Lots of ground to cover here........The problem we have with what is usually tagged as Aussie Rock, is the fact that so many ex pats from other countries emigrated here post WW2 and grew up here, but they shot to musical prominence as Aussies...A great example of that is the Bee Gees, originally from the UK theys etlled into Australia and started gigging around as a kid's act before getting real serious nationally and then leaving Australia to take on the world. So are they an Aussie act, or British kids who grew up in Australia, then went 'back 'ome' to stake their claim and later moved to the USA when they jumped at better opportunities? A lot of musos from our great bands have British heritage, but the band itself is purely Aussie....Easybeats, AC/DC, Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs,Cold Chisel. So the definition might be a little loose, but if you feel it's Aussie then go for it!

BTW, that all said, Neil and Tim Finn and Split Enz are definitely from New Zealand....but maybe some would argue that Crowded House (Neil's band after Split Enz) is more Aussie with the other two in the band (Nick Seymour and Paul Hester) probably being Aussie.

ha ha that was great, thanx!

I drive very regularly across the Harbour Bridge, both into and out of the city when I am driving the buses. Brian is right, the old girl is a great bridge. Always fun when I have some tourists on board, they are usually floored by the views, particularly if we are heading into the city and the Sydney Opera House is underneath us on the left and they can see it... looking west too, you can see the western part of Sydney way into the distance. Think it would be fun driving a  car across the Bridge? Driving buses is so much more.....challenging when heavy traffic but great at the same time, if that makes sense.

The bus you see at 8:45 or so, that's a bus from the same organisation I drive for, though that is a Mercedes Compressed Natural Gas bus, which we don't have on the northside.

Brian showed the Luna Park facade, that is only 200 metres or so from the underside of the Harbour Bridge on the northside. Luna Park stands on the old worksite when they were building the Brdige in the 1920s/30s. I regularly finish a bus run underneath the Harbour Bridge on the northside, and the Luna Park facade is onyl 200 metres or so away from me. Shame I wasn't layed up at that Terminus the day he filmed that, would've have loved to have met him. It's agreat view of the Sydney CBD, the Opera House and Circular Quay from that terminus.....a good spot to get a great pic of Sydney. Take a train ride to Milsons Point and walk down to the waters edge.

Bondi Beach is on the southside of the city, in the eastern suburbs, a long way away from where I work. The sign he pointed to is at the junction of where Bondi Road starts, very famous road for those interested in music in Australia, lots of Kiwis came to Bondi to get started in Australia, Bondi Road is lined with apartment blocks and they usually hung out there. You go down the hill on Bondi Road and arrive at Bondi Beach. Turn right and head out to Coogee. ExNZ band, Dragon, made an album titled 'Bondi Road' that was a success here.

While your heading in this direction, I'll add Many Machines on 9 .....aka MM9. I used to work with the singer's Dad and spent many a night listening to cassettes of Dan's demos..Also Dan got me into my first Reason software synth package, he was raving about it to his Dad and well, I ended up having to get one too!

Found this one--nothing like watching Bon Scott try to make the bagpipes look cool:

I also remember Midnight Oil from the days when I was a student DJ in college:

AC/DC is the Aussie Ambassador for Aussie Rock... no one else comes close.

Not only that, Messrs. Angus and Malcom both own legendary guitar tones.

Seen a few bands in pubs in Australia (Sister lives in Melbourne plus I've been for work). Incredible talent there. In fact, Id like to move there one day!
