Shortly before end of year, I managed to finalize a cover version of this great 60s hit from the British Progressive Rock / Blues Rock / Psychedelic Rock - Band Procol Harum. A Whiter Shade Of Pale from 1967 (!!!) was with no doubt their biggest hit. And this song has gained some world wide popularity and was covered by many other artists as well.

The original has some baroque and classical influences with wonderful organ parts.

In my interpretation I have tried to maintain the original song patina and rearranged it with an 80s Rock-vibe.

I hope you like my version of this wonderful song. Any feedback is greatly appreciated !

This song was once something I heard occasionally. When it started reappearing here recently (mostly on youtube) it sort of hit me just how completely it disappeared. It's a weird song - the Bach it borrows from doesn't have near the sadness that the Procol Harum version does, even though it's almost exactly the same notes. It's beautiful but I also can't really bear to listen to it without driving me into a funk. Not really depression, just melancholy that I can't really explain.

Yes, there is some melancholy in the song - and one of the reasons why I like it :)

And as you say: the original song arrangement is somehow "weired". And all that weirdness took place in 1967 - and this is even more weird to me  :icon_biggrin:
