Are there any female Warmoth/partscasters builders/players out there?

Hahah this is not a dating thread  :toothy12: I already have a girlfriend  :icon_biggrin: ( While she does not play guitar at all she actually learned me how to solder a pickup for the first time, a part of her day to day job includes fixing electronics and stuff. Before that I just bent the wires together)  :toothy12:

But this thought just comes to my mind sometimes, that even male oriented interest such as meching with cars attracts women to some extent; but I don't think I have EVER come across any female partscaster enthusiasts.

And I'm not talking luthiers but just ordering parts and put it together.

Somebody once said that "guitars are like Barbies to grown men" , while I guess females more often just play the instruments and be fine with it. I mean, I just ordered a gold toggle switch to match the gold hardware on one of my guitars; it's not like the black one I had before did anything to my playing but I can certainly agree with the "Barbies for grown men" thing.

What you think?

Yeah I've seen a few female forumites.
I completely agree with the barbies for grown men thing...

And she hasn't been here since September of last year. There was also Julia, but she hasn't been here since June of last year. There have been a couple others whose names I can't recall, but they were short-lived.

Long story short, females are extremely under-represented on this forum. But, I don't think it's the membership here - this is one of the most well-behaved forums I've ever been on, and I don't see anything different on any of the other musical instrument-related forums. It's just that females don't have much of a presence in the music industry outside of the performance fields. The computer/engineering/technical forums I used to spend a lot of time on were the same way.

I know five lady strummers using parts/high-end kit guitars; three, as far as I know, use Warmoth for some pieces. I know one other who used to use a Warmoth build, though she chucked that a few years ago.

But they also all have full-time jobs, whereas I, for example, am self-employed and can take a day to just sit around at home eating cake, whenever I want. So I end up getting involved on forums and Twitter and whatever and they tend not to. I really don't believe gender has anything to do with anything, just schedule and circumstance.

Sometimes just sitting around is the ticket.

My better half seems to think that's time to give you stuff to do. But doesn't seem to want to know that I'm actually busy :-)

Agreed. There are three female techs in Seattle but none of them are very interested in the partscaster thing. The Warmoth forum is one of the best examples of civil and knowledgeable people sharing an interest and assisting each other. There are a few women out there doing this stuff or working on their own instruments but the majority of interest is still male.
