Anyone up for a blues jam?

ok - not really sure what the method is for doing this. I recorded a part. Now do I upload the mix of it, or just my guitar track or what? And if it's the mix, should I re-encode it as a mp3?

not sure what the procedure is for this sort of thing - never did one with other people before. I guess I'll do all three...

ok - here's a guitar track - - pop it in wherever

here's the mp3 mix that I made - it's at the very end.

Ok if you just need one more, I'm in. I have the mic set up anyhow. Might not be all that bluesy, depends on what comes out.

I was just telling Max - I saw this months ago and I've been ripping it off ever since. hehehe :laughing7:

I've downloaded the backing and can noodle for 24 bars, if there's a space left. I can do it if there isn't a space, too ;)

I just realized that I may have jumped the gun - didn't read carefully enough. If you need me to record another version I don't mind.

Nice, get 3 more and we can have 2 of these going. If you guys are cool waiting until 3 more jump in I'll assign spots to everyone.

why are you bumping me out? Oh yeah - cause I'm too awesome :laughing7:

Sorry, GoDrex, I must have missed your post. You're definitely in.
MULLY

it's ok - I was sort of non-committal about it - did you notice I recorded mine already? Do you want me to go first? I can put my solo at the beginning.

EDIT -

here's the file with my solo at the very beginning:

http://www.wfzr.net/warmoth/bluesjamguitartrack.wav  - -  the solo with no backing

Screw it, let's get the first one going.... I just took the names in the order that I got them. GoDrex seems to be on his game, I listened to his previous track, so we'll let him go first. So, GoDrex, you're the opener, my man. What you'll need to do is take the original backing track and add your part to it, save it as an mp3 and post it back up here. Then Doughboy will take it and record his part after that, save as an mp3 and post it back up etc... etc...

The times here aren't exactly right but you get the idea. 2 times around the 12 bars for each of us. This should be really cool.

0:00-1:00 GoDrex
1:00-2:00 Doughboy
2:00-3:00 MULLY
3:00-4:00 hachikid
4:00-5:00 mmarino
5:00-6:00 Panthur

When it's all finished it would be nice if everyone involved left a comment on each track. Criticism is welcome but make it constructive. This forum seems to have a lot of good people around so I don't expect any "That sucked ass" posts. Hopefully this is a success and we can do this from time to time.

So, let the games begin.

JimH, djf67, tfarny we have a choice here. You guys can jump right in and do 4 bars each or we can wait until we get 3 more people. Up to you guys.

ooops - ok here's my track:

I recommend re-encoding at 320kbps - - since the quality is going to start to suffer after a while.

in case anyone is wondering what I used - I recorded the track with my Warmoth LP. I used the neck pickup, which is a Seymour Duncan '78. The amp is my Fender Cyber Deluxe, on what is supposed to be the 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb, on the crunch setting (I also added a little compression for some more sustain - cause I need it  :icon_tongue:) - with some reverb and a tiny bit of slap back.

Perfect. Cool, Drex is finished, Doughboy, you're up. Download his mp3 and do your part then post it back up here.

I think all that re-compressing would lead a a pretty nasty-sounding file in the end. Let's all do like GD and upload tracks of JUST the guitars, and mix them all down at the end.

I've done this before. It doesn't hurt it too much. Unless you want to be the one to mix it all together. I don't have a whole helluva lot of knowledge on the recording end of things. I can do my track and that's about it.
MULLY

we should do both - - the super compressed mp3 can be like a reference for the final mix. If people give both, I can mix them.

What exactly is the order of solos? I don't want to overplay & step on anyone else upcoming tracks. Also, is it 12 bars? The one I downloaded has a 24 bar solo.
