Mighty Mite used to market a guitar body called the Megazone.... it's from the 80's. I think Van Halen was probably the most visible player back then... I always liked it.

An old Mighty Mite Body, there was a pic with EVH with a whole bunch of his guitars, & this was in there.
Never have seen a stage shot of it with him playing it though.

I’d never seen that before, but ever since looking at it it’s been reminding me of something I couldn’t quite put my finger on. And then finally it clicked!

I remember that one. Never saw one in person, but I remember that image with Van Halen and his guitars and that one being one of them:

Hi all, my first post though Im a long time reader of the forum. I used to own a megazone, it was the only one that came into the UK.
I have included a pic of me playing it, it was 1981 and I was 21 years old, please lets not get into any discussions about the 'clothing fashions' :-)
thats just how it was back then!

I paid £400 for that Megazone. Purchased from Rose Morris music shop in Denmark street.
It was an Ash body as I recall with a maple neck/ rosewood fingerboard, the neck was lefty strat mounted for a right hand and 'trimmed down'
The pickup was mightymite super distortion and there was this little pre-amp mounted into the back behind a small plate that was switchable, that really kicked the output up to the point were I recall it was almost uncontrollable in terms of feedback when playing it live.
The bridge was a fender strat tremolo and was difficult to stay in tune but I remember having a lot of fun with it.
Sad end insofar as I cannot remember exactly what I did with it. This was around the time Eddie was coming a big deal and everyone wanted to be him, including me, so I ditched the megazone and got a charvel Strat.
Its a shame because with so few in existence Im sure it would be worth some decent money now even for curiosity value.

Dang. I like that a lot. I'm thinking I need to make one some day from ash or mahogany and put bevels on it to really emphasize the profile. Obviously, it doesn't have to be a solid color.

Ha! What a rag-tag collection.  :icon_biggrin:  I wonder how much of what you see there came from Boogie Bodies and Warmoth.

I'll take the LP and pick-axe.  :headbang:  That said, you gotta respect that he didn't get all precious about his guitars.

He regarded them as tools, to be sure. I remember reading some story about Jennifer Batten playing his guitar and calling it a POC. But it worked for him!
