Hello to everybody,

even though I didn't even finish my 1st order yet (nothing has arrived since I purchased my order :( :( :()),  I already ordered a 2nd body ---> couldn't resist the Thanksgiving Sale.

It's going to be a rear rout, silver radiant finished 7/8 T-style body.
Only the Warmoth Warheads go with that.........I've seen the notice.

Since it's a rear rout, will I need wood-mount pu's?

Now, any tips for me what "color" hardware I should take and what type of core wood and fingerboard.
I was thinking of Bloodwood/Bloodwood or Purpleheart/Purpleheart.

Other suggestions are welcome.

You can either woodmount your pickups or use pickup rings. Both will work, the real difference is appearance.
Black hardware would probably work well with silver radiant, with Chrome or Nickel being my second choice.

There's no difference between the actual pickup, regardless of how you mount it. (I wasn't sure if that's what you were asking)

Hello AutoBat,

thanks for your quick answers......it seems like, you are the almost the only one willing to answer....
Thanks for giving me the hint with the pickup rings.
Yeah, you answered my question really well.

On the pic I saw the silver seemed to be really dark.  Using black will make the whole axe a "dark age" axe.
I was thinking of black as well, first then thinkig of gold then chrome.
But a "dark age" axe could look really slick as well.

What type of neck would you suggest?

Pickup rings will work fine - yes. I did that on my Warmoth HH-stratocaster here:

I think wood mounted pickups just looks like a job not finished yet. YMMV.

I think that for keeping a "dark"-theme - then I would go for a ebony fingerboard - preferably without inlays. And maybe a wenge neck.

To me bloodwood and purpleheart would make the guitar too busy looking.

And oh - I still think that chrome hardware would pop such a theme in a nice way. Black hardware perhaps would make it too sad looking.

Looking forward to see your build. Not too many radiant finishes on this forum  :icon_thumright:

Top routing or rear routing has more to do with whether or not there's a pickguard and how the controls are mounted accordingly.  I know it's a Tele, so I'll assume it's Tele pickups.  The bridge pickup will still mount to the Tele bridge.  The neck pickup direct mount or pickup ring.  If humbuckers, pickup rings or a modification to direct mount, as the humbucker direct mount is slightly different than the pickup ring/pickguard humbucker route.

Hey SustainerPlayer,

it's a rear routed body.  Sorry, no pic's yet.......... can't get a hold of the body. It's not in stock anymore....

If you get the body number reference from your order confirmation email - we can access the picture.

We know it's a rear route - but which routing? Humbucker/Humbucker or Tele single coil/tele single coil etc?

+1 on the wenge neck, or something with an ebony fretboard, I love the look & feel of ebony fretboards.
Personally, I'm partial to black hardware, (haha, but I also love all black guitars...)

Chrome hardware could look really cool, and gold might even work, depending on what neck/fingerboard choices you go with.

Good luck! can't wait to see the finished product!

:headbang:

Stick a Bloodwood neck on there!

@ line6man:

what color hardware would you suggest?
Black, chrome or gold?

Bloodwood neck & fb?
Or do you maybe have any other suggestions?

Where do I get the back cover from? Have to buy it from W.?

Any good ideas for pu's?

Bye  JULIA

Hello Needs a Turbo Deluxe Floyd,

"direct mount", does that mean wood mount or with pu-rings.....  :dontknow: :dontknow:
still a newbie.

Bye  JULIA

You could do either, but direct mount refers to mounting directly to the wood with woodscrews.  Foam under the pickup raises it off the body to the desired height.

Hello again Needs a Turbo Deluxe Floyd

well, then I have another decision to make.
What type of core wood and fb wood would you suggest?

You seem to be asking all of the subjective personal questions.
Build you guitar the way you want it, not how random internet people want it.

Personally, I think black hardware is the better choice, and gold would be absolutely awful.

I would do a Bloodwood neck, but I don't like two piece necks that have the same shaft and fretboard wood. Choose a fretboard from the gallery.

All Warmoth bodies come with black plastic control cavity covers.
