Yip, birdseye makes everything look better...Something ebony just can't do...Sorry Brent..

Birdseye is lovely stuff, and I like it a lot. But, against a body like that? Isn't that too much? I was thinking more about the color than the texture, and more about roasted Maple rather than figured. Also the black binding to match the body.

Not that I would ever build anything like that, but... just in case... y'know...

Looking at the two together, I would like something darker against that body.  Canary, or roasted maple with the black binding and (or not) the black MOP dots.  But the black binding would hit up with the body, nicely.

But the brazillian rosewood over imbuia hits it nicely, as well.

Ebony is nice for some builds, but sometimes a figured maple board is what the doctor ordered.  :headbang1:

Right. Slightly darker, black binding, no training wheels dots. Somebody should put something together like that.

Training wheels, lol!  I have a couple of guitars without full inlays (only something at the 12th fret).  Some of us like them for decoration.  To me, a fretboard without anything looks like it is missing something.  Even if it is made from beautifully figured wood.  But, that's the beauty of custom guitars...To each their own.  :laughing7:

You're right, though.  Somebody should put something together like that!  :dontknow:

Well it doesn't necessarily have to be birdseye, plain maple will work, it's the contrast. But no I don't think the birdseye is too much with burl, they fit to gether...It's kind of like caramel and chocolate, each separately are very rich, but you put them together and they work well... :laughing7:

Did you have to call in for that FR nut shelf on that neck? I don't see it in the builder.

It's there, but only for Warmoth Pro construction.  Not available on the other two truss rod styles.

Well, I spec'd a "Conversion Angled 24 3/4:", so apparently that's another one on the "no can do" list, even though that's supposed to be a "Pro" neck. .

Should be doable.  The Imbuia neck is a Conversion Angled 24 3/4.  There must be another option preventing the Floyd nut shelf.

EDIT:  I just tried myself.  The Floyd nut shelf showed up for me.  :dontknow:  What headstock?  I used Warmoth headstock.

It was the Vortex headstock, but I tried it with the Warmoth headstock and was denied again. Turns out it was the missing frets that made it balk. I've been leaving the frets off necks lately so I can burnish the fretboard along with the rest of the neck, then I fret the thing myself. Apparently, if you don't have frets installed, you can't get a locking nut? Not sure what's going on there. Can't get an LSR either, due to the angled headstock.

Yeah, that'll be happening. Too early yet, though. They're still snoozing out in the left coast.

Yeah, but you're a doctor. Your sleep schedule is probably even weirder than mine, which has defied explanation for many years  :icon_biggrin:
