And so it begins, Ebony goodness fresh out of the box................

The double-black color scheme always looks great.  Like Roy Orbison done up as a guitar.

You might want to consider wiring the tone only to the bridge pickup.  I find it's unnecessary to use the tone control on my tele's neck pickup, and you can tailor the cap to what works best for the bridge.

By the way I have an El Dorado control plate  https://eldoradostraps.com/product/hand-engraved-metal-guitar-parts/hand-engraved-tele-control-plate/ new in the box that I'd be willing to sell you at a reasonable price if your are interested. PM me if you want a price.
Thanks for the offer, Tonar! I looked at those control plates, and I agree that they are really beautiful pieces. However I'm planning on going a little simpler, and less "Western". I found a pattern on line that I was able to fit to the right proportions. It's more classical in style, and I can move the volume control a few millimeters away from the selector switch to the center of the plate.

This actually shows the switch in the reverse position, which I was thinking of, but have decided against. As the pattern actually has a top and a bottom, I'll need to flip it before sending the final version off to Doug.

Interesting idea, maybe use a push-pull on the tone pot to make that an available option. Thanks!

I think you meant 24.75 scale instead of 27.75...

The deal with the 4 way switch is that if you like the parallel position as much as I do, you'll use it a lot, so pushing the way up to the 1st is easier than positioning on 2nd...
On the first is just give a slap...

Right you are Fernando, correction made!

I really do prefer the sound of parallel humbuckers, much cleaner with just a little mid range scoop. That's why I like the idea of the 4-way wiring, sounds right up my alley!

I think it's the best sound ever! It's noiseless, it has punch and fatness at the same time... It's like the best of a bridge pickup with the best of a neck pickup melted together...

I did not find the email, but IIRC, BKP told me that if want a more "single coil sound", best to use non-RWRP on the pickups, if want more humbuckerish tone, use RWRP... But it's best talk with the guys who you'll use the pickups... think was 2 years ago this email I had with them, I might be miss-remembering...

You might want to be consider that having the bridge and neck single coils of a tele in parallel might sound quite different form a humbucker wired in parallel.  It probably depends on a lot of factors I don't understand, some of which might be specific to my guitar (a treble bleed circuit) - but when my tele is in parallel-position, the sound is very dark - a great tone for jazz, but certainly not the slightly-scooped humbucker-in-parallel sound.  Maybe because the pickups are sensing such different parts of the string, as opposed to a humbucker in parallel, with the coils right next to each other....

Not sure on your pickups, but mine (bkp piledriver) i had to put 500k pots...
But they are really hot, 13k on the bridge alone...
But it was not only on the parallel position on all positions it was a bit too round, because the pickup is really hot... if you go with a more traditional pickup I don't think it would be a problem

Looks like a nice combination of parts.  Turns out I am a sucker for black guitars, they just seem to be simpler and classier, as well as opening up all kinds of choices for necks, pickguards, hardware, etc.  See this months GOM losers for details! :)

I like black guitars, too. There are 4 in my collection. Downside is, they always look like they've been passed around at a fried chicken dinner party. I'm not sure you even have to touch them to get them fingerprinted to death. That, and they're better dust magnets than a Swiffer.

I've owned a couple of black cars over the years, so I'm aware of the, "Always looks dirty", problem. I already keep a microfiber cloth of the little table next to my guitar stands, guess it'll be getting even more use than usual!  :icon_jokercolor:

Hey Big Steve!  Do you need a 4 way tele switch for this project?  I just happen to have one that I have no use for.
The 4-way switch arrived from Trevor today. It will have a good home in my new Tele build. Thank you Brother!
