amp speaker size

generally speaking the larger the speaker the more bass it puts out and the more power it can handle.
that is a very general statement and can be ripped to pieces, but it holds true in speaker category, in other works apple to apples not apple to oranges
you see speakers have design categories like this line handles X amount of power and this one has this magnet or that speaker cloth which effect tone and power sensibilities.
Plus just because it is this brand or that does not make it a great speaker, every manufacturer has lines in different price points and qualities
for general guitar playing 10 inch and 12 inch seem to rule and you can demo a Fender Hot Rod Deville to hear each side by side, the Deville is offered in 12 and 10 inch model so you can check that out. * inch speakers are generally in lower powered amps and 15 inch speakers are Bass Players territory.
When checking out speakers you have to consider the power handling capability of the speaker and input ohms to mach your amp with ( how you wire your speakers effect these factors also). Many websites offere sound bytes now also.

Good luck

Speakers come in different wattages, different diameters, different voice coil diameters, different cone material, different surrounds, different magnets... you name it.

All else being the same... and I mean ALL else, just the diameter increase will give you more bottom _and_ the cone will break up later.

The cleanest speakers I've ever seen - full range for guitar - were the JBL D130-F

There are sleeper 10's out there with huge bottom - the old Celestion Vintage 10 (which I still have a few of).

The Eminence 10ALK was another (although lower wattage).

The biggest bottom speaker is the old Celestion H cone 12's, very clean too, late break up with a very stiff cone.

The Celestion Silver Series 12's were also sleepers.  They're the "poor man" version of the Vintage 30, slightly wider coil gap, slightly tighter cone... very tight bottom, an excellent speaker, and rated at 60w each, like the Vintage 30 ( which in itself is great 60watt speaker).
