Amp parts utilized for GOOD?

Hey--I know some of you guys (+girls) build your own amps and stomp boxes. Question..can amp electronics be converted and used in a pedal? To be exact, I just was given a peavey trans tube 2x12 unit...I'm not likely going to keep it, but instead of trading or selling it for it's very small value, can I pirate whatever supplies the distortion and use it as a pedal? I used to have one of these in head form and although it's solid state, has a GREAT metal distortion. Possible or is it unremovable from a circuit board for example? Your input please!

Something like this?

Nawww..As awesome as that thing looks it's overkill for what I'm thinking. I just want to utilized components from the amp --it's solid state like I said--to put into and effects pedal--distortion only.  And even though I wired my own guitar successfully I don't claim to know the first thing about electronics in amps..I maybe smokin something to even think that this is possible.

If it's a peavey, chances are it's all on one circuit board.  Taking out a part of it and re-using it in a stomp box will be impossible.

You're better off cloning the circuit from the schematic.  May as well craglist the amp now.
