So, everyone convinced me to keep my PRS Baritone instead of trading it for a crappy gibbo, instead I decided to sell my Spidervalve 2x12 amp so I can buy a PRS SE Soapbar II that I found! Does anyone have one? I've played em before and love 'em, I've been looking for one for a while.

I owned one for a while. The best guitar I've bought off the rack in a long long time, and the PRS SE line is probably the only commercial brand I'd consider buying again.

I had one a while back.
I really liked the neck, the pickups (yeah, they actually sound really good stock) and the weight (they're very light weght).
What I didn't like was the nut and the sound of the guitar (not the pickups). It's hard to explain but somehow all PRS SE models I've tried
has had a dull, muddy tone. Fat and flat at the same time maybe.  :icon_scratch:

Anyway, a good guitar for the money and it made me realize that P90-pickups is the shit!

I've always felt the SE line was the perfect example of a cheapish guitar that you could upgrade to a really nice guitar. But then again I love PRS.

I think they're good, I wish I had one too! The ones I've played in the store have all had nice sounding pickups that can do a good clean, nicely balanced, nice weight, I think they've the best guitars I've seen under a grand, really. I think the nut needs replacement and can not figure out why people stand for a crap plastic nut on an otherwise good guitar.

The quality of the nut only half bothers me, simply because 3/4ths of the notes I would play are fretted, and it's easily fixed.  The PRS SEs are almost a bit of an enigma.  For what they go for new, one could hardly call them cheap, yet they are not the 4 grand usual PRS offering.  Definitely a good value.  One thing the SEs have that I find irritating is that they have maple tops and a maple veneer on top of that.  Look sometime.  The grain patern on the natural masked binding does not line up with the maple of the top.  The nut and otherwise purely aesthetic top and veneer issue I stated are part of what allows the price to be lower I guess.  Try a few though, the SEs are Korean made, but the Gibson are American made so country of origin isn't necessarily a guarantee of quality.

True about the veneer, but some of them just have your classic mahogany. The SE One is a good looking guitar for instance.
