Hi, all.

I've been busy looking for an artist to commission for the cover of my current project with Vai's dude.  Do any of you have experience with someone that you could refer over?  I've been in touch with the guy who did Man-o-War's early stuff and his work is quite epic, so he is working on a couple of old school concepts that match the atmosphere of the music.  I'm still looking in the event a Conanesque cover replete with chained up slave-wenches bearing big, satanic boobies ends up setting the wrong tone.  Looking for something dark and ethereal.  Know someone?  Here's the idea -

Your concept sounds really compelling. I don't have a specific suggestion for that type of artwork but are you familiar with this site?

I definitely want to see what you end up with.

Lewd boobies compel all, my friend.  Seriously, though. AM hoping to really find a good fit for the music, whose genre I still cannot define.  Thanks for the link!

Also, just a thought: if you can find a piece of art you like that already exists, you can almost always get the rights to it for cheaper than you can commission a new original work. Plus, you get to see it first, and you know you will like it. Of course, if you want something very specific the only way to get it is via a new piece.

Sort of like the custom builder vs the in-stock showcase.

Alex Goulet has done or 2 covers so far, I love his style

May or may not suit what you need, but you should take a look

Any album covers by Iron Maiden, RUSH, Dream Theater, YES, Kansas, Styx, & Fates Warning are pretty cool.

Fates warning. I remember that being a cool band. Haha the old headbangers ball before it was massacred by Rikki Rachman.

Cripes, Rikki Rachman, agent of the cartoonification of metal.  As if it needed any help.

I know.  I knew it had jumped the shark then.  Was pretty funny to see some of his guests disdain for his presence.

Rachman was the epitomy of a game show host and his "Vanna" all in one package, and it was pathetic.

Kurt Loder was far more credible and he wasn't even remotely a metalhead, but he was a legitimate journalist.

Yah, Loder was def the better choice.

OT in the OT.  Would you guys happen to know the genre my music falls within?  There are so many subcategories in the rock/metal genre.

Just make one up. Start a trend. That's what everybody else does. I vote for "Multi-Segmented Rock".

Before you know it all the cool bands will be copying it, and they'll add a category to the Grammys. You'll be rich and famous!

My vote is for 'Aquatic Rock' since your music flows smoothly and is still interesting. But then, you'd need to have a tuna for a logo and people would think it had some religious or social significance and you'd probably be explaining your way out of that quite often.
