I received my AFRA neck today.  Very nice 1 piece (I think it was quarter sawn).  I will be converting this to a 4x2 and burnishing the neck.  It is a very canary like feel to it.

I make up the headstock and looking to create a nice straight string pull so I marked up what looks like the best spacing based on my headstock shape.

I will post some photos as soon as my photo bucket account starts working again.

Sounds very cool and definitely post photos when you have them. Afra is one I think a lot of us have not had personal time with and I'd like to hear your impressions of it once you are making music with it.  :headbang5

sorry for the late update, my photobucket account was acting up.  Here are some updates.  It still need a final shaping and polish but I am happy.  The tuners fit perfect.

Fretboard and sketched out design

Nice job! That really looks great! What did you use to cut it?

Several things.  I used a band saw to get the primary shape.  I then used a variety to air sanders to get it smooth.

As I said I still have a few areas to touch up.  Since I put some satin poly on top to seal the waterside, some inevitably makes it way on to the sides.  I will do final shaping once the poly is 100% dry.

I picked up this little miracle at harbor freight last year and have found it super useful.. I then do a final sand with 200, 400 on the edge and hit the entire thing with some orange oil.

That headstock looks great.

Love that little sander. I haven't seen one before. It would prove useful for many things.

That is an interesting little sander. I wonder what range of grits are available for the little belts?
