Hello All!

I'm a newbie to this forum and have ordered my first warmoth Guitar to assemble, and finish etc...

It is a soloist body (carved) , flame maple top, adler body, flame maple neck..

My plan is to finish the guitar using blue colortone water soluable dye for the face (over black sanded back), and then use the same dye in lacquer (for the 4-6 coats) for the back and sides. I have not decided if I will do a natural binding yet....

My question is simple I guess - here it goes..

If I forgo the natural binding, I will want the blue tinted lacquer to 'sunburst' around the sides to say 1/2" to 1" around the face.... and merge well with the face so that you can not really see a 'line' where the original dye job stops...

Would it be reasopnable to dye the entire guitar (not just the face), and then apply the tinted lacquer on the back and sides? Does that seem like a sound approach?

Regards and thanks for any all input the pros may have!

BTW this site has been an excellent resource!
