AC/DC calling it quits.....

The problem at hand, is can't click the mouse but so hard. Having something to assault would certainly go a long way towards "The Sound"

Sorry; I lost track of the fact we aren't talking about real drums  :icon_biggrin:

I'm not sure if it would get you what you want, but gated reverb on drums has been used to great effect by some to get that serious "punch". Basically, you run your drums through a reverb chamber of some sort, then run that output through a noise gate. Set the gate for instant attack and the release threshold fairly early, and things will just snap. Think Phil Collins' drums.

I'm pretty sure this would work, but the way it's always been done (both analogue and digital) is to use the completely dry sound of the drum (analogue: close mic; digital: dry sound routed direct) as the trigger for the noise gate ("key input"). And then the decay is set to about half a second. I'm not sure how it's different to what you've specified - all I can think is that the dry signal might provide a more accurate "NOW!" for the actual drum hit start time. (Although I guess if you've got a lot of drumming going on, or you're using particularly loud reverb, the reverb might fool the noise gate into staying open too long or something. Yeah, I bet that's it)
