a Q for those with a 7/8 or a Sustaniac/Sustainer

Thinking about a 7/8 Strat with a Sustainiac in it. I know the position of the actual Sustainiac (neck pup) is kind of important to the proper function of it. Curious if the pup repositions for the 7/8 Strat would adversely impact it. Anyone have any ideas?

DocnRock is the sustainiac guru on the forum, perhaps he'll comment.

Pretty sure the answer is "not a problem.. it's fine."
Otherwise it'd have to be incorrect for any pup.

This is completely not true. Do you know how a Sustainiac works and what it does vs. a normal pickup? You can install traditional pickups side by side from the fretboard to the bridge and they'd function fine. You can't have your other pickup too close to the Sustainiac.

I think they want you to have at least 3 or 3 1/2 inches space between the Sustainiac and the bridge pickup.

TBurst: Maybe checkout an installation guide and see if there's any info on placement in relation to scale.

Yea, I know how the Sustainiac works.

After a lot of research, I bought a Fernandes Sustainer guitar.  LP Style w/Humbuckers version.
Nice axe, a lot of fun to play n' great for recording.

It sounded to me like the OP was asking if he would need to move the positions of the the pups..  :tard:

Anyway,
The space between the HB pups (neck to bridge) on my Fernandes is ~4" (on center).

The space between the SC pups (neck to bridge) on my Strat  ~4.5" (on center).
After a little math the 7/8 scale brings that down to about 4.1".

Like you said, the install guide recommends 3" - 3.5".

Either way (HB or SC), still should be just fine.
