720 mod on the 7/8 sized bodies?

Anybody know if the 720 mod is available on the 7/8 bodies?

I'm planning a build sometime next year. I'm thinking rear route and recessed TOM, so the 720 mod would be a nice touch.

+ a more general 720 mod question: Won't the standard neck screws be too long with the deeper pocket?

I don't now if the mod is available on 7/8 bodies or not, but depending on the body, if you're recessing the TOM, you probably don't need that or an angled pocket anyway. Best to call and ask Warmoth that question.

As for the screw length, the 720 mod only drops the neck pocket floor .095" (~3/32"), so that shouldn't be an issue.

I know I don't need it, but I would like it since it looks better without the gap between the fretboard overhang and the body. I am however a bit concerned about wether I will be able to adjust the TOM low enough with the 720 mod. But as far as I can understand, they put a slight angle on the pocket, so that will hopefully be enough.

Yeah, I better just call them before I order. Thanks anyway.

I know Cagey knows this, but when I read his post I thought it might confuse someone.

The 720 mod is about reducing the gap caused by the lack of a pickguard.
The recessed TOM bridge eliminates the need for the ANGLED neck pocket, and that height difference is a lot more than 0.095".

The question is a valid one. How deep is the bridge recessed and how high off the body is the minimum string height.

I emailed Warmoth about this since I have been wondering the same thing. I will post back what I find out.

This is the answer I got from Warmoth:

Question:
Is the '720 mod' available on the 7/8 size bodies? If it is, will it be ok with a recessed TOM bridge? I'm worried if the TOM will be able to be adjusted low enough.

Reply:
Yes.  It would work great with the recessed TOM bridge.

That's strange, I just got this reply from Warmoth:

Unfortunately the 720 mod isn’t available on our 7/8 style bodies. Everything we make is done by using our C&C machines and can’t be reprogrammed. Hope that helps and have a great day!

Update: I sent Warmoth an email asking them about the different answers

That is weird.

Another thing thats weird, is that I also asked this:

"Is it possible to order a 7/8 (24.75"/24 fret) Warhead neck with an angled headstock?" and got "No".

But I found this post by Gregg:

"The 24 fret, 24 3/4" scale neck will only fit our 7/8 bodies, Mustang bodies, Jaguar bodies, Jagstang bodies and any bodies we "short scale". You cannot get a Fender shaped peghead on this neck. By default we put the Warhead peghead shape on these necks but we can do almost any shape including tilt back construction. (Again, no Fender shapes). This neck has a 1/2" fretboard overhang at the 24th fret." http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=222.135

Maybe they just changed it since his post.

Here is the reply I got this morning:

I’ve gone through the body builder myself a few times and with the short scale that 720 mod isn’t available for that particular body style. The TOM bridge will work just fine with the 7/8 style bodies but again the 720 mod isn’t available as an option. Thanks again and have a great weekend!

This isn't all that important to me so I'm leaving it with this response
