Moving along, but the Lace pickups that I ordered do not fit.  Tomorrow I am going to see if Guitar Center has the DiMarzio Model J DP123 pickups.

That is absolutely killer!  What is the wood?

Top is Camphor, and the back is Mahogany.

Too sweet.  I've got a couple of Camphor Burl VIP's being made.  Looks absolutely gorgeous with that gloss clear coat!

That's beautiful! What a wonderfully glassy finish to show off that wood!!!

Heh, I was just thinking "too bad it's a glossy finish"! An oil finish always looks more organic to me.
Aaanyway, cool bass!

Pickups are installed, but still have some soldering to do.  Also, I have temporarily put my MIM Jazz neck on it.... ignore the unpolished frets :)   I am a bit disappointed because the string spacing of the Gotoh bridge is a little narrow, and the string alignment with the DiMarzio Model J pole pieces is off.

FYI, the strings are an old DR coated set.  If you look closely you can see some of the coating rubbed off.  I can't wait for my Rosewood neck to arrive.

Thanks!!  My vision has been coming together, but it's been a frustrating journey compared to my first build.  I started this project on a whim.  I couldn't resist the pricing on the body and neck.  For those who haven't been following: my rosewood showcase neck was damaged in shipping, the neck pickup from the first set of pickups I bought (Lace) didn't fit the pickup route, and the second set of pickups (DiMarzio Model J) don't match the string spacing of the Gotoh 201 bridge.  Mostly just minor problems other than the UPS fubar.  I may try some Bartolini's if the DiMarzio's don't work out.
