2016 Olympics

Tonging oysters in 40 foot of water was going to be the main event too!  ;)

The "jimmy crab in the marsh boot" race is a must-see too!

You gotta have some big money to have girls like this :laughing7:

LOL.  Big money so you can afford a body guard for when the drug dealer lackeys come looking for you.

That's what Dangerous Doug is for!

I assure you Olympics won't help the city or the people. Just the rich businessmen and the corrupted goverment. It's the same thing all over the world.

Sydney had a great chance to really upgrade the infrastructure of our city when the Olympic venues were being developed. We got about half of it right, after the Games. We have a great big stadium and some other infrastructure which is good, but the after Games cost has really shackled our State Govt.

And because the party that was in Government at the time got an extended honeymoon period in the after glow of the Olympics, they got lazy and neglected some basic things that should have been updated, but weren't, and are now desperately trying to do it all before the 2010 elections. Some senior pollies also got some choice jobs after they left politics, which many suspect is a bit of a pay back for certain corporations benefiting from some work given to them for the Olympics.

I was born and raised in Sydney, and believe me, I was very proud of the way my City built up for the Olympics and carried it off. But the after effects, if not managed properly can leave some real hangovers...

Well, hangover? This is going to be a really big one... I want to wish it'll be good to Brazil, but:

Is what I think too and I know Brazil man... Read that Madrid had to pay for their Olympic games in '76 untill 2006... Guess that we'll pay it untill 3016...
We're the country were people robs US$100 millions from the government and get only a month in jail, not counting that the money is NEVER find...

Yes, and in this case you can play "Money Talks" from AC/DC too...

Well, ONE really good news: in October 9th they will decide if Rugby will enter in the Olympic Games... It'll be the 7-a-side instead of the traditional (with 15 player per time), but Brazil will have the team playing in 2016... Time to trainning and loosing fatness/adding muscles I guess :laughing7:

Sorry to be picky, but it was Montreal that had the 76 Olympics. And yes, it took them a long time to pay it off. I think also Barcelona had to pay off their Olympics for quite some time.

Sydney's was just about paid up in full, if you believe the newspapers, but the building of all the venues and the infrastructure tore a big hole out of all the other things that needed upgrading. Now we are behind in public transport goals, public hospitals and schools too. We desperately need more rail links to outer suburbs but the money isn't there and private enterprise isn't going to build railways after the last one went bust (Sydney Airport rail link).
