Since placing the order in early February, I have feverishly searched google for similarities and read many, many posts on this great site about other peoples builds. While I'm waiting, :toothy10: I thought I'd share my project.
It's a chambered mahogany strat body and mahogany neck with a dark rosewood fretboard. It will have 2 f holes on a cocobolo top, the body coated with a clear finish. Also, I opted for a slab body, with no contours for the tummy cut or forearm. It will have black binding on the top and bottom, to match the black sperzel locking tuners and black DiMarzio tone zone humbuckers ( one on top, one on bottom.)
I chose not to have Warmoth add any fretboard markers, although it will have side dots. I kind of want to see it in person first, because I am having the neck finished by my good friend who is a luthier. I may opt for abalone, we'll see what's available. It seems this guitar will have a striking natural wood feel, so I may choose to leave the fretboard unmarked. The neck is a vintage Fender Clapton V, fingerboard radius 9.5, stainless steel 6100 frets. It will be set up with push pull knobs to spit the coils, with a three way toggle switch.
This is my first build, and have always loved Strats. I just sold a Fender TC-90 that I liked, but it just wasn't THE guitar... I'm looking for a nice full jazzy tone with the playability and feel of a strat. I am expecting the guitar and neck sometime in early to mid April. I will post pics the day I get it!! :toothy12:
