I have been thinking about Gary Moore and playing my Les Paul a lot the last couple of days so I snapped some pictures of it.  It's a 1992 Classic Premium Plus that I bought back in 92. I have posted a picture of it in the past but since then have switched the pickups from Duncan 59's to ThroBak PG102 Limited's.  Thank you Gary for the inspiration!

Now, that's a sweet old axe.

To me, the cherry burst belongs on an LP.  Cherry bursts always seem a little too garish on a Strat for some reason.  But black pickguard does help cut down on the glare when it does occur (and I say this with full appreciation for the lovely job you did on Cherry Bomb, Mr. Tonar, sir).

The PG102 pickups from ThroBak are made to replicate the pickups in the famous Les Paul that both Peter and Gary owned and played. The PG in the stock number designates them as the Peter Green set.  They have the neck magnet reversed so they are out of phase in the middle position.  It is a very nice feature and gives the pickups a very broad range of sounds.

BTW, what happens to the PG guitar Moore owned?

I would love to see Mr. Green get that back. Some of the best blues, and hands down the best Brit Blues, were done on that guitar.

Need proof? Live at the Boston Tea Party. I have all three discs, all of them amazing. I'm looking for them on vinyl now...

didn't he sell or auction the PG one or two years ago?

Yep, to settle debts for hand surgery and a tour that was cancelled. $1.2mil, I think. Private buyer.

And with considerable ill feeling toward the buyer/agent - see a discussion on the LP form at http://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=118482

One more reason to prefer guitars with no particular resale cachet.

Peter is playing and is still a master of the vibrato and taste; watch the first video to the end and check out how tasty his vibrato is on Albatross. The second is the man at his prime with all the fire burning. I wish I had paid more attention to him as a young player because he was a master and I could have learned a thing or two.  I have been paying much closer attention to him since YouTube and I have been able to watch how great Fleetwood Mac was in the early days.

Yea, that second Peter Green video is one of the tracks on Live at the Boston Tea Party.

I know without a doubt that I want to recreate Peter Green's Les Paul. Once I get access to some quality tools, I may need to talk to Tonar about paint...

Nice git, but what's with the name?

"Les Paul Classic Premium Plus"

how about

"Les Paul Neo-Classic Premium Doubleplus Secret Probation Home Edition Deluxe" ?
