When guitar companies don't make what you want, then sometimes you just have to jump into the deep end and do it yourself. Her name will be Ginger.

I'm still waiting on strings and pickups, both back ordered, so if anyone wants more pictures of anything before assembly I should be able to oblige.

The red streak down the bass side of the canary fretboard is absolutely beautiful, I could not have hoped for a better final product when I chose this piece of wood.

Side by side, but not together. I still have to check measurements and such, but don't have the time tonight.

Wow, that's stunning!

How long did it take to arrive?

Ordered December 24th so minus some time for Christmas/New Years, arrived today April 2nd. I counted 14 weeks, but I know good things take time and they did a wonderful job.

That is crazy awesome...I love canary.... :icon_thumright:

I couldn't resist, I had to take more photos of the fretboard. I have to say I am surprised how visually awesome the canary fretboard is while everything else is more or less what I was expecting.

Sorry only half are cropped, photobucket fails for editing and I'm too lazy.

Oh, that's quite a while but certainly worth the wait.  I'm in week 9 of my wait, looks like I might have a way to go if yours took 14.

That body's certainly a pretty thing and the neck makes for an interesting and unusual combination of textures and colours. I'll be very interested to see it come together.

Re that canary board, I'm not surprised you're pleased with it. I'd grabbed the UC photo of that piece to use in my design mock-ups:

It looks good but doesn't show the amazing range of colours. Nice score!

Remember that's 14 weeks including holidays and the time to get from them to me though UPS ground. Site quotes 8-10 weeks from start(which I am assuming for me was in January) to shipment. It took a full week for it to arrive from the west coast to here in the east, and all in all I could say that at most they were about a week late(given that we can even use the term late with custom built to order stuff). My guess would be in the next week or two you're going to get your shipping notice.

If mine comes out half as nice as yours then it doesn't matter how long it takes.

Why do suddenly feel like I need a 12 string tele.  Can't wait to see yours when it's done.

Nice! Can't wait to see the finished result.

I have (a very different) one too, so welcome to the 12-string tele club!  :icon_thumright:

I'm back with updates.

Strings are in, but I'm still waiting on pickups. If anyone was wondering I'm using a set of Bill "Wilde" Lawrence L500 R/C. In case the R in the bridge proves to be problematic I also have a L500 L/C set included in my order with hopes that I have the L/C set leftover for my next project. Though it'll be a while before I get around to it, here's a lazy mockup of my next possible guitar:

Totally a Microfrets fan, shame there's so few out there.

Since I'm sourcing the assembly out I decided against a separate assembly thread. While I was up at my tech's shop getting another guitar restrung/setup I gave him the neck and tuners to let me have the feeling that this project is going somewhere. Here are the results:

Gold hardware on bloodwood is just heavenly, once again this neck has exceeded my expectations (Still have to play it though). I do have a string retainer bar on hand, but that will be the last piece to be installed, if at all. I'm really hoping that Cagey's theories about string trees/retainers being unnecessary if the nut is correct are true so I don't have to use it. Also, from what I've read elsewhere they only prevent strings popping out of the nut when bending, and how often does anyone try to bend strings on a twelver?

When the pickups arrive I'll be able to get this fully assembled and I'll make a new thread in the proper area.

Very nice! Gold and red always go together. And even if you do bend strings, you don't need string trees if the nut is properly done.
