Question for ya - what are you planning to use for string trees?

I still have an annoying string pop-out problem with my fender XII, even with staggered tuners.

I'm just experiencing it myself.  I wound the strings a TON in hopes that it would help, but ugh.  What string tree/bar options there might be was actually on my list of things to look into.  What were you thinking?

Well, I'm currently looking at:

PT-7200-00.jpg

which is a strap pin but made by graphtech out of the nut stuff.

Another option is:

PT-7000-00.jpg

but that will require some work I'm guessing to make the strings pass through without a funky break angle.

Finally, there is:

BAR_FGRC.jpg

which will work, but it's my least favorite option.

I've got all of these on order.  I'm gonna try em when they get here.

Trevor, did you have as much of a time setting yours up as I am with mine?  Just restringing it is hell, hahaha.  I think I've got it strung with enough winds that I don't need the string trees, honestly.  I'd suggest giving that a go when you restring yours.

It was a chore to set up, no question - but I'm used to a Rick12 which is more painful.

Regarding the wraps, I used sperzel staggered locking tuners which won't let you have the wraps low.

BTW my current performance solution is to slap my capo on the nut :-)

up to canada it's $38 in freaking shipping!

I think I'm going to pursue other options first.

Would the Floyd retainer actually work?
I also found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Fender-Electric-XII-Chrome-String-Guide-60s-N-O-S-/370303512452?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item5637cf2f84

Update - I had a look at all the other options, and ended up getting the genuine article.  Will report back when it arrives.

Well I got it - the Fender XII string tree.

It came in this box:

No wonder shipping was so freaking expensive!   There was not even a catalouge in there to make me feel better  ???

Here's the actual thang:

Some observations:

1 - it's a quality cast part that's well plated
2 - did not come with hardware (sigh).  I'll get some #6 SS parts later
3 - seems smaller in real life than in the photos.  Looks good in any case.

Final observations - talk to them on the phone to arrange shipping in a reasonable box, but the product looks good.  This is the one that's going on the guitar.
