Won't W do the body for you if you ship them a wood slab?

It seems there's a number of people on here just hell-bent on making me hate them for the absolutely gorgeous instruments they produce.  If the Raven hadn't already done it, this one would get ya on the list, mister.  That's seriously beautiful.  I can't wait to see it finished.

Once you have the body, take it to your local craft wood supply (Woodcraft, etc.) and find yourself some test pieces that have the same basic color.  Try different finishes on these before you do the body.

I use a blow gun on my air compressor.

When I first saw the pics of that body I didn't care for the look of the top at all.  After the dye, I want to steal it and hide in a cave admiring it.  That's awesome!

Start with one of these. At under $100 you've got plenty of budget left to upgrade the hardware and pickups.  With some TLC you could make a damn nice guitar within that budget.

I seriously doubt that would happen.  Look who handles Mosrite stuff now and brags about serving papers on folks producing "fake" Mosrite guitars.

I'll add another vote for seal then stain.  Get the Behlen vinyl sealer in an aerosol can.  Sand it flat if necessary then stain.  Your color will come out nice and even, no blotchy patches.

That has to be the silliest thing I've ever heard.  Who here is gonna complain about too many pics of a build?  Especially one with so much win as this one?  That is a truly awesome project you've got going there.
