Help with my nitro finish body

My latest project guitar happens to have a nitrocellulose lacquer finish.  When I bought the body, I wasn't familiar with all the characteristics of this finish.  Inside the first couple days of completing my project I noticed some finger prints on the body, so I grabbed my polish rag (t-shirt)...

    MIM v. MIA Neck Frets

I'm planning on using a Fender neck on my latest project.  I have heard of the difference in quality of the fret wire used on American necks versus Mexican necks.  I've owned a MIM Tele for a few months now and I've already noticed very slight fret wear on the 2nd fret (which may have been there...

    Necks, Bodies & The Cold.

Could a neck or a body be damaged by sitting out in the cold for too long? - Say, 20-30 degrees? I have ordered neck/body and I figure it will be in these temperatures for at least 3 days during shipping.  Should I be concerned?  :dontknow:

Tele Body - Strat Neck... Problem?

I want to build a Tele with a Strat Neck.  Is there any reason this would not work, or are there any things I need to be concerned about? >>>>>I've read at Warmoth that a Strat neck on a Tele body will fit and intonate correctly.  It's just those darn gaps... Any help would be greatly...

    Bridges & String Spacing

I'm starting a Strat project and I'm planning on using the "narrow spaced" Strat bridge that Warmoth sells (with 2 1/8" spacing). Am I going to have any trouble with the strings lining up with the pole pieces on single coil pups?

Help me name my new bass!

Very nice.  Creative pickguard.  Not too thrilled about the wood knob.  Is that a dresser drawer handle?

Strat Hardtail Bridges: Vintage Vs. Narrow Spacing

Gregg, thanks for your reply. I guess I should have worded my question differently: "Is this is stupid idea...?"  :icon_scratch:

Strat Hardtail Bridges: Vintage Vs. Narrow Spacing

Okay, so here's the deal.  I have a strat body that is routed for a vintage style hardtail bridge (string spacing 2 1/4).  I want to swap it out for the narrow style hardtail bridge that Warmoth sells (spacing 2 1/8). As the description says, the string through holes must be enlarged from 1/8"...

    pickup picking HELP.

"There are two reason for this. 1) Kinman's are so dynamic and sensitive that you don't have to punish your strings in order to get the guitar to respond to your playing, so string breaking is less prevalent and they just last longer anyway. 2) Kinman's are so sensitive to tone and detail that...

    pickup picking HELP.

yfarny, yeah I'm not sure what to think about the longer lasting string claim.  ??? I was hoping not to blow the $1000 mark on my project, but these pickups just hit the ball out of the park as far as what I was looking for.  So, I'll just have to cough up more cash.

    pickup picking HELP.

I think I've found a set that fits my liking perfectly: http://www.kinman.com/html/myProducts/teles.htm#NST It's the 3 pup Tele set that comes mounted on a harness Check it out.  7+ Sounds out of 3 pickups, hum canceling, passive (so no battery), absolutely no soldering required for...

    pickup picking HELP.

The goal is to build a modern version of the nashville tele (strat singles neck and middle, tele bridge pickup) and I think I've got just about every part for my dream fiddle picked out... except pickups. I have spent weeks searching the internet looking at pickups.  I've considered Dimarzios...

My Fat Strat - Flame Maple

GearBoxTy, Yes, that's an 80's american standard.  There's more fret wear than I would like to see, but it's tolerable. Alfang, I never thought of putting a piece of foam inside the battery cavity to make things fit more snug.  Thanks for the idea.  I might just need to replace the battery box...
