Plugging & re-drilling neck pocket holes

Ok...enlighten me... I was browsing, saw the vintique multi hundred dollar pack & saw the Onyx forge page & offer. I believe that he is an engineer as well as guitar maker.. Onyx Forge was good to deal with and helpful. I mean are we talking buying a Honda when there are Ferraris available...

Plugging & re-drilling neck pocket holes

I'm using the kits from Roy Bullis at Onyx Forge. Actually I drilled a 15/64 hole in scrap & was able to tap the dowelling in reasonably lightly. I might drill out the neck pocket holes & do as above before relocating & re-drilling.

Plugging & re-drilling neck pocket holes

Hi. I am reworking s DIY bolt on neck to use threaded inserts. It has an angled neck pocket. Whereas with wood screws it was OK to drill straight through at 90deg to the back & let the wood screws bite, I figure the new holes will need to be at 90deg to the bottom surface of the neck ie the...

    Build Pic + question

Thanks..I'll talk to Warmoth..it's the weekend here... I made the body. I got photos from the Taylor site and from Imagine guitars I think (they always seem to have really good photos of their stuff) magnified them until the lower bout was 13" IIRC. The body is Queenslabd maple (similar to...

    Build Pic + question

Hi. Here's a link to my just completed build:  http://mywebsite.bigpond.net.au/michiamo/T5%20specs.html I don't seem to able to adjust the truss rod any more & the relief is still above .38mm  (0.015")  :dontknow: I'm afraid of stripping the truss rod nut and/or doing damage. Any...

    Tinting Shellac

Tinting shellac is no problem. Here are two pics of my DIY SG. The colour is 10% Feast Watsonproof tint -Red- in shellac. The shellac is applied in separate thin coats until the colour is the intensity desired. (That's  the way to apply shellac tinted or not.) It was then sprayed with...

    Removing ferrules

...she's not, but I enjoy watching her cross her legs... It's a DIY body (Warmoth neck B'eye & ebony) like a tele thinline... Yeah I thought of tapping them out from the 'top' bur I figured someone would have an easy technique.. well I'll practise on scrap....

    Removing ferrules

The guitar-to-be is unfinished and I want to check intonation and locate the pickup positions. I thought about leaving them in, but that would be a pain when it came to sanding and finishing.

    Removing ferrules

Hi. I was about to do a stringup on a string through W.I.P. and I realised I don't know how to safely & efficiently remove the ferrules afterwards. What's the best way to remove ferrules? TIA, Rob.

    2 vol 1 tone

Hi. I am considering using a 2 vol 1 tone circiut in a DIY guitar. Basically the circuit of a Fender Jazz bass. Setting aside pot & cap values, is there anything in particular to do with the circuit itself that would make it unsuitable for guitars as opposed to basses?

...ah done a bad bad thang...

Hi. In setting out my 'latest' project I was upset by the large wastage factor of my attractive blackwood body blank. Consumed by my penny pinching ways I rotated the blank 90deg & found I could squeeze two bodies out of it that way. I drew up the shapes & cut two 'blanks' from the one...
