I'm also thinking about a wenge/ebony neck (or maybe a wenge/wenge neck with black dots like yours).
How's the feel of the wenge/ebony neck? Can you say anything about the contribution of the neck to the tone! I've read Warmoth's tone descriptions...
I have a set of Vintage Tallboys in my Tele...and they're about as noisy as any other single coil pickup. Unfortunately, the bridge one doesn't seem to be wax potted very well or at all, at higher volumes or gains, it can really start squealing like a stuck pig! Also have the four way switch...
I'm late to this discussion (haven't been on the forum for awhile), but this is why I prefer to cut my own nuts (yeah, I know - that sounds both perverted and painful!). With a little practice and some simple tools and sandpapers, you can do this job yourself...and get the string spacing where...
Personally, I'm tired of messing with vintage truss rods that require removing the neck from the body to adjust...attach neck, tune, repeat as needed...aaagh!!!
Ordered my latest with the truss rod adjustment at the neck, even though I was going for a '62 vintage look...it's just not worth it...
