I've always been a huge fan of Bill Lawrence pickups...the man is a legend in the pickup world.
His L90s are top notch...he builds all the pickups himself. All his business is really just word of mouth, he doesn't spend money advertising. The website for the l90s are (scroll down)...
Yea...his website is a work in progress. Since I've started keeping up with him, this website is probably the 5th or 6th "version."
Its got 4 EL84's (Russian ones I think) and 3 12AX7's.
So, I've been waiting more anxiously than a kid before christmas for my new amp...a little backstory:
I work with youth and there is a kid that I work/jam with (he is an excellent guitarist). Last Thanksgiving, his dad came by to visit him and we started talking about his son's amp. He had a...

Old busted line6 amp combo + 1960's 15" alnico organ speaker + my engineering skills = fully awesome and very sweet sounding 1x15 speaker cab (on the bottom). Now the superchamp sounds 10x better through it...
I was never really impressed with the superchamp xd's 1x10 speaker...it always...
Bill Lawrence makes some pretty awesome pickups. He's been around for years...35+.
I have the L90 8H installed in my guitar and they scream. Super responsive to playing style and they maintain clarity. And they are only $60 for handmade pickups. Here is the link...
I finished my spalted maple topped guitar with zpoxy->shellac->deft clear gloss laquer. I expected the wood to be softer, but I had no problem finishing spalted maple. I think it really depends alot on how much spalting the wood has...maybe more = tougher to finish? Zpoxy is some good stuff...
