1 Meg Pots on Build #3

I don't know if they make them in the style that you need, but the tone/frequency response of two 1 Meg pots is the same as one 500k pot and a no-load pot.

NEW for 2020: More Compound Radius options!

Thanks for the input Cagey! I was curious what your opinion was, you'd know better than anyone lol. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm surprised that Warmoth can handle compound orders at all, at their scale. That's a feat! I don't think that flat fretboard are necessarily easier or...

1 Meg Pots on Build #3

For anyone curious, here is an accurate graphical representation of how pot values effect tone. http://guitarnuts2.proboards.com/thread/7171/pot-values-load-pots Basically, higher pot values (bigger #) = higher resonant peak (higher Q). This can sound like more treble or more "clarity"...

NEW for 2020: More Compound Radius options!

Dang, now I gotta try and decide on a straight 12" vs a 12-16 compound for the next neck. Any suggestions? Real talk though, an "infinate radius" (flat fretboard) would be really interesting. I'd buy one. If it was good enough for chord work on classical guitar, no reason it shouldn't work for...

    Neck Action and Setup Experiments!

Dang Steve, you must seriously play lightly! That's pretty dang flat and low. ~3/64 action would be uncomfortably low for me, but that's the beauty in being knowledgeable with setups, isn't it? Set it up exactly to YOUR own preference :D. Fenders recommended neck relief is here. ...

    7/8 Strat

Thanks for posting those images! I actually didn't know about the babicz hardtail until I noticed it in your photo, and I just purchased one to try out! The full-contact saddle is really interesting... and the 2.2oz listed weight due to full aluminum construction peaked my interest too.

    Neck Action and Setup Experiments!

I leveled the frets on one of my guitars yesterday, and decided to do a little tone and playability shootout experiment. Once fret leveled, the guitar was stringed up and neck was set dead flat. Saddles were raised so that string action is 5/64"th or 2mm at the 12th fret, without a capo...

I Feel Like I Won The Lottery!! 7/8 Strat Body + 24.0" Neck [Images]

It's actually a rosewood fretboard :D. I agree, still no need for oil. It did make the fretboard blacker though:D

I Feel Like I Won The Lottery!! 7/8 Strat Body + 24.0" Neck [Images]

Thanks for the heads up! I actually want to go the nitro route for the eventual relicing that time will do to it. I plan on staining the body yellow with turmeric (in everclear) before spraying. That way when the relicing does happen, it'll take a little inspiration from Gary Moore's strat :D...

I Feel Like I Won The Lottery!! 7/8 Strat Body + 24.0" Neck [Images]

Thanks Aaron! I'm a huge fan of the Warmoth Videos by the way... and the huge variety in what you play. Seriously though, that personal build you featured is one of the coolest guitars I've ever seen. I'm big on unique things though :D. I'm actually planning on making this build really well...

I Feel Like I Won The Lottery!! 7/8 Strat Body + 24.0" Neck [Images]

For anyone who wanted to know the specs: Neck: Mustang 24.0" Modern Construction, 59 profile, 1.650 nut width, straight 16" radius, 6100 Stainless Steel frets, dark rosewood fretboard on maple shaft, Vintage Tuner ream, White GraphTech nut Body: 7/8 Strat Body, Swamp Ash, Universal Route...

I Feel Like I Won The Lottery!! 7/8 Strat Body + 24.0" Neck [Images]

I first got the neck and gawked at how perfect it was. I measured the nut width and the first fret/12th fret neck depth with a digital caliper, and the neck measured exactly true to spec... to the thousandths. The Stainless Steel Frets are perfectly seated and zero rock with a fret rocker up to...

    Roasting Maple at Home

Some other ideas. From superficial research it seems that brittleness is directly correlated to treatment time. We have to question why 4 hours seems to be the industry standard, and I'm sure with experimentation we can find out why- or if there is a more optimal time for our purposes. The only...
