I've seen folks use the Schaller 8-string bridge that Warmoth sells for 12-string basses.
It IS a damn shame that Warmoth won't just do Gecko 12-string necks. If it were possible to build a Gecko 12ver, I'd do it in a skinny minute.
So, I'm thinking about building a mandocello. (Kind of a big oversized mandolin--as a mandolin is to a violin a mandocello is to a cello.) Ideally, I'd like to make it a hollowbody, and blend piezo and magnetic pickups.
My big question is where do I get a bridge that will work? More or less...
I noticed that the G4 is the only bass that you can get routed for the Hipshot Individual bridges. Can the routing be done on a Jazz body. Is it in the works, or will Warmoth do it for an upcharge? Not that the G4 isn't nice, I've got one, but I want to start my Perfect Jazz Bass build and...
This is the first I've heard of the necks on the Geddy models being unstable. Nobody on the message board at www.talkbass.com has repoted any problems. It's kind of hard to believe that a Fender production model would be that flawed.
Too bad, if it's true. Those Geddy basses are hands down...
Any chance you'll consider offering bass necks with the thin profile of the Geddy Lee Jazz Bass? Those Geddy basses are great, but I'd love to have that neck profile available to build my own bass the way I want.
