Quick advice on bass fingerpicking technique

Ah, I think I've figured it out. My fingers are sort of reaching down to the strings. That is, the heel(base?) of my hand is closer to my shoulder than it should be, so that when I sound a string, my fingertips aren't at a 90 angle to the string-plane, but are instead at a rather shallow...

Quick advice on bass fingerpicking technique

Howdy all, teaching myself to play the bass after years of guitar monotony. Of course, I've been avoiding picks at all costs. Slap comes surprisingly naturally, however I have a question about regular finger-picking technique. If I'm sounding strings and afterwards my finger follows through...

    out of phase

Yeah, its fun stuff. Sometimes people underestimate it because the differences aren't that remarkable on clean settings and the volume differences, etc. But under a distortion/OD, everything clipped off anyway and you get some great differences in feel. Not just in tone, but how the guitar...

    out of phase

my setup is kind of crazy actually. my two humbuckers are hard-wired in series, I can set them out of phase with each other, and each pickup has a series/parallel switch. When the neck is series and the bridge is parallel, I get a monstrous swell of bass as soon as I palm mute a chord. The...

    out of phase

I'd just like to go ahead and say I'm a real out-of-phase kind of man A phase switch livens up your fuzzes like all get out. Especially under heavier distortions, it can really bring in some nice tones and picking becomes more expressive. If you find the right settings, you can get a real nice...

    Tone Deaf Test

That's interesting. It seems like you'd have an advantage if you were the type that did a lot of MIDI phrases, and played around with heavy soft synths.

    help choosing a bass

come to think of it, tuning to drop D on a four would leave you with just about 3 semitones or so short.

    help choosing a bass

Personally, after trying my hand at bass for about a week, I felt like I wanted to go lower than the standard low E. Trying a couple out is probably good advice.

    swmp ash jazzmaster

Yeah, there are many interesting trems out there that hold tune well. Do a bit of searching around and you'll probably be glad you did. The jazzmaster is an excellent choice in my opinion, and going with a white finish like that should complement the neck.

    Speed Knobs & Push-Push Pots?

You could try a spacer, perhaps.

    paint finishes

The chameleon finishes are something I've only seen in the showcase. you could do a filter search there and see what you can see. If you haven't emailed Warmoth about it already, it would be a good move.
