    I hate my baritone!

If you cut a new nut that has string spacing to your narrower preference, it should feel fine, with just a little more than normal fretboard space beyond the lowest string.

Meanwhile, at Warmoth....Nickel vs Stainless Steel frets video!!

Before your reveal, I picked neck #2 as having a better sound -- more full range. Glad it was the SS version, because they are indeed so much more robust.

    Basswood Strats

That is indeed a Kahler bridge, on both the 5 and the Gecko 6. With it you can add or remove saddles as desired, and on the 5 I tried the bass as a narrow-spaced 6, which was ok but for me too narrow at the nut, and for both it and the Gecko it  there for a planned future experiment adding a...

    Basswood Strats

Here's the Deluxe 5, no pickups yet, which was bleached prior to finishing, and also the Gecko (just body, has a non-Warmoth neck with extended fingerboard) that was not bleached.

    Basswood Strats

PS if you try the CA glue finish, make sure the body is really dry, or you will end up with white streaks forming in the glue.

    Basswood Strats

FWIW, I really like basswood for my basses (don't play guitar), and have put together a Deluxe 5 and a Gecko 6 with the wood. For the CA glue finish I use the softness has been a positive attribute: it really soaks into the wood and you end up with a very hard surface. Basswood looks quite...

    New Bloodwood Jazz Bass Neck

Nice Jazz. Regarding the Gecko idea, Warmoth won't make one with bloodwood mains (though they do offer it for fingerboards), due in part to the difficulty in gluing the wood for angled headstocks.

    G6 Body and Neck

So that we 34" scale aficionados can have that 6 string bass.

    Converting a 4-string bass to a 5-stringer (ongoing project)

A Kahler 7450 bridge will work nicely -- spacing can go as tight as 14 mm. You can install it without routing, but you'll need to shim the neck about 3/32" to 1/8". They can be purchased at wammiworld.com.

Hex wrench tip for bass necks with 24 fret extension

Bass necks with the 24 fret extension make it impossible for normal sized hex (allen) wrenches to reach the truss rod nut, but if you'd like to be able to adjust the rod with the neck attached, a T-handle hex wrench (in my case, the Klein Tools JTH4E12, about $6 at Amazon) with the handle...

T-nut (tee tut) as alternative to insert for neck attachment

Never mind. Thought about it some more, realized that the fretboard would have to be removed for installation.

T-nut (tee tut) as alternative to insert for neck attachment

I am interested in a machine screw neck attachment method, but the use of inserts seems somewhat difficult for a non-craftsperson such as myself, and in any case I don't own a drill press. Are there any reasons to not use t-nuts for this purpose?

    raise grain for CA finish?

Thank you. I did a water test, and the grain indeed raises, so will proceed as you recommend.

    raise grain for CA finish?

I just received my basswood Deluxe 5 P body, and am planning to finish it with CA glue (clear finish, no stain or dye). Should I first raise the grain with water and sand?
