raise grain for CA finish?

I just received my basswood Deluxe 5 P body, and am planning to finish it with CA glue (clear finish, no stain or dye). Should I first raise the grain with water and sand?

I would. A good finish is heavily dependent on good prep.

Also, I'd invest in a good 3M filter and some vapor-tight goggles. The fumes from that large an area covered in CA are going to be wicked.

Thank you. I did a water test, and the grain indeed raises, so will proceed as you recommend.

Just squirt it on and run like hell. Though it may take a while to get all those little tubes open.
