I have three main guitars I use and got seriously caught up in trying different pickups in each one, swapping, etc.  I have a notebook of that silliness and am glad its over for now. Anyway, what is permanently in them now are: 1. Mahogany body, maple neck with ebony board:  Sheptone Tributes. ...

Just to break my stupid habits. Anyone with me?

Okay. My official gigging rig is now just a Led Boots, Barber Gain Changer, and a Keeley Monterey. So far it's a great live rig with the Mesa express 5:25. I could probably get away with just the Gain Changer but I use the Led Boots for single coils, where it really shines. Just another day in...

    Rosewood and swamp ash.

The guts and pickups are taken out of a 60s Baja tele. They actually sound really good. The S1 switch works in the 2 and four positions of the switch and I think I just reverses the phase. The effect is a very tiny and trebly sound. I dont use it at all.

Just to break my stupid habits. Anyone with me?

Anyway, I got in a strange mood and sold my pedals, well, most of them anyway. It really is a pedal-junkie thing. I've duplicated tones so many times it's ridiculous. My inspiration was getting a J.Rockett Led Boots pedal and having an epiphany.  Although it's an outstanding pedal, it's not...

    Rosewood and swamp ash.

Warmoth rosewood neck and light swamp ash body. Electronics are Fender 52 and 58 pickups. Dyed by me. Could call the color autumn fire or something. Anyway, it plays beautifully and rocks really well.

    Roadhouse neck humbucker

Got a Triple Crown that Ken made for me a long time ago. It's f-spaced and zebra and just came out of a guitar I sold. Beautiful warm and woody neck pickup. It's on Reverb if you want to see. Contact me there if you are interested. About $50 gets it. Thanks

My rig, because my wife doesn't appreciate it

My latest combination that I really love. Each of these pedals beat out others to earn a place. Going into a Mesa express plus 5:25 and usually with my hss Warmoth Strat with Roadhouse 65s and a Bare Knuckle Mule.  There's not a lot I can't do and I'm very pleased. I'm sure it will be different...

Warmoth ash strat has Roadhouse 65s neck and middle and a Bareknuckle Mule in the bridge. It's the most versatile guitar I've owned. Beautiful range and the Mule sits perfectly in ballsy paf land. That pickup can do damn near everything. My mahogany strat has Sheptone Tribute humbuckers and...

New tele neck. Not fitting right

So I replaced the neck on my 60s Baja tele. The new Warmoth neck is better for me but I found I have to raise the saddles to their max the get it playable. The raised angle also makes the compensated saddles flat on top and therefore useless.  I thought the Warmoth necks were drop in...

    What the fuzz??

Maybe.  I really like the distortion and crunch I have on the amp so I'm trying not to double up.  Thats one I've never had tho...

    What the fuzz??

Greetings all.  Terrible issue...terrible!! I have a space on my board that is screaming to be filled.  I cant have that.  It's just taunting me when I play.  It's like a kid who has lost a front tooth and their smile is just screwed up without it.  Its driving me nuts.  I also have one more...

BYOC Classic Overdrive - TS808 Clone

That may be my next frontier.  My two Warmoth builds have been tweaked and refined to the point that my guitar jones is satisfied and I've got two crazy-great instruments.  I've also gotten to the point where my two-year pedal journey is nearly over because I'm so pleased with my board and any...

    Rondo - B stock

Ahh Rondo.  An inexpensive way to learn repair, fret dressing, nut cutting, soldering and general setups.  I think I still have one somewhere that I was able to make into a pretty decent playing instrument.  I remember stopping before replacing pickups because I suddenly thought "Wait, why the F...

    Guitar Center Tech...just wow...

Many years ago I worked at a decent sized local mom and pop music store and the owner taught me basic setups for guitars and basses.  You could pick up any instrument in my inventory and it was a pleasure to play.  He sold a lot of instruments over the years, and it was partially because of that.

    Guitar Center Tech...just wow...

YUP.  Very last time I went to GC was to look at a used ES335 that was the exact color I've been keeping an eye out for and about what I wanted to pay.  I stopped at my bank and got the cash, thinking I would be coming home with it.  Guitar had an obvious grounding issue, probably just with the...
