hey... I just ordered a Black Korina body and Wenge/Ebony neck... too!

It's a Tomahawk doublecut body (tomahawkcustomguitars.com) with a schaller Hannes bridge. I routed the pickup cavity with a pickguard humbucker template and the p-rail is screwed directly into the wood with the pickups own pole screws.

I love Macassar Ebony... I three all macassar necks! I'm thinking maybe a Wenge/Macassar neck next time as well. How is the access to the high frets with the strat body?

I don't see any benefit to using pure tung oil

Wipe on Poly, like Minwax, is not a catalyzed polyurethane like the ones used by many guitar manufacturers and is similar in hardness to truoil... so I wouldn't bother.

Pure tung oil takes a long time to fully cure so if time is a consideration, you may want to go with a polymerized tung oil like Formby's or Minwax.

cool, but "Single acting truss rod, adjusts at the heel" ruins it for me.

I don't know if they're that obscure but I dig Clutch.

I doubt you'll have balance issues with your VIP body. I have a one piece VM macassar ebony neck on a hollow alder strat body and dont have any balance issues. It's the best feeling and sounding neck I've ever played!

well... Rob had me try a bunch of things but in the end, we couldn't get the neck straight and I had to send it back so they can work their magic.

I was so psyched to see an all macassar modern vintage, I jumped all over it. When I received it, I was completely blown away and went back to grab the other one and it was already gone...  :(  snooze ya loose, I guess...
