    stereo bass wiring

okay, that totally makes sense! Just checking my understanding here - if you inserted a mono cable while the bass was switched to stereo you'd only hear the pickup wired to the tip connection, right? In this case the pickup on the ring connection would be grounded out by the mono cable?

    stereo bass wiring

I have a two pick up passive bass that I'd like to try out stereo wiring with. I want to be able to send the two pickups to two separate signal paths. Here's the question - Is it possible to wire this up so that in a SINGLE jack if i use a stereo cable i get the split signals and if i use a...

    Obnoxiously bright bass

Thanks for the fast replies! Sounds like I need to get my hands on a set of stainless strings. I love the hatred for the red labels, pretty funny stuff. Don't worry, I get a wonderful, rich tone from my Warmoth. I'm just looking for a particular sound for recording purposes.

    Obnoxiously bright bass

I'd like some suggestions on obnoxiously bright bass strings.  I'd like to make my bass offensively piano-bright. If anyone has any other parts suggestions for achieving an unreasonably, chiming bright tone, i'd love to hear them... a different bridge perhaps? I have a gotoh 201 on there at the...

Misaligned bass neck - help me!

I'd like to thank all those who replied. I went ahead and 're set' the neck, this time applying some force in the direction i wanted to neck to move... string spacing looks darn near perfect. I'd like to thank you for reigniting the love. This baby has a great, clear articulate sound when...

Misaligned bass neck - help me!

Ignoring the pickup, the strings are still out of alignment. The strings are all shifted towards the treble side. The E string is much further from the edge of the fretboard than the G string is. The A string is closer to the fretboard marker dots (assumed to be central) than the D string is...

Misaligned bass neck - help me!

the neck on my bass seems to be out of alignment. I thought everything was fine until i strung the instrument up. It seems that the bridge isnt spaced properly, buts its a Gotoh 201, on 201 drilling. The strings are closer in towards the center of the neck on the bass side than on the treble...

    POLL: pick my bridge pickup!

5150/6505... seriously You need a new amp, not a bridge pickup. By the time you've picked up three new pickups and associated wiring you could have saved up enough for half a nice new amp. Having said that, I too played the pickup game before getting a bigger amp.

Anyone know where to find "full size" dpdt on/on toggles?

Anyone know where to find "full size" dpdt on/on toggles? I'm looking for a toggle the size of an SG/Les Paul/335 switch. I know there are loads of mini toggles, for modded superstrat style guitars, but i just want something the size of a traditional Gibson three way. Ive done some looking...

How risky/difficult is it to drill pot holes in a double f-hole hollowbody?

Its not hard to drill a pot hole. I didnt even know it was hard to do until this thread. I've drilled holes in my dot without any issue. I just started with a 1/8" bit and then used a larger bit to get it to the right size.

Tips on installing copper shielding in control cavity?

+1 I shielded my guitar, i didnt notice this until i washed my hands. The skin on my fingertips was like ribbons, not deep enough to bleed, but enough to rip up the outer layers of skin.

Effect of string trees - this time with data!

I once did a science fair experiment testing the "Fat Head" clamp product. Tested a control headstock, fathead and different masses of C-clamps on the headstock. I used an ebow and dB meter to ramp up the string to the same level before pulling the ebow off and timing sustain. I didnt use a...

    My Latest thing

Neat! you've got the easy bit down. Are you concerned that your paper's ink might run once you start hitting it with lacquer? Do you have plans for sealing the paper from the lacquer?
