I'm not sure why top routed with a pickguard is preferred over the rear route ones. Don't get me wrong, I own 2 soloists - a green and a neon yellow, and love them both. But, not sure why folks were lusting after a pickguard model. Just curious.

Seymour duncan has the wiring diagram for you to follow. Just go on their website and select wiring diagrams and look for the option in the dropdown. I have used this one in the past and it works perfectly. Things to keep in mind. You cannot select both pickups at once, its one or the other...

Great build - is the S1 switch noisy?  The one that I have on my baja tele is.  It is on the short list of things for me to repair.  I was thinking I would replace it with a CTS push pull pot.

I love it.  How many coats of tung oil did you use on the body?  How is the tuning system?

The best Ibanez's with square neck joints that were built in the 80's used fret extensions.  The newer all access neck joints (AANJ) use a non-extension neck

I love my two soloists.  The neon one is one of the lightest guitars I own.

I second that.  Staggered (or all short) tuners are my preferred option.

One option of the TUSQ nuts comes with TUSQ string tee's.
