    Dinky Jazz/P neck

I built this knowing I wanted a 5-string so I ordered a p Bass neck and converted it to five strings. The nordstrand pickups are perfect for the 5-string conversion, they pick up all strings evenly.

sorry....cleaned up my photobucket account....some other pictures are up ther now. Thanks for all the compliments. Update. Great sounding bass...BUT, i am looking for other pickups. I am falling out of favour with the Seymore Duncan stuff. Probably stick in some Nordy's. I also have this...

Well, I don't have the MM wired into a series/parallel switch, so it is pretty straight forward. Very MM. The bass sounds best with both pups full on...the neck pup really gives the MM the fullness that it needs (I like).  I wasn't too sure about the bass until last week, I took it to an outdoor...

I would be interested in seeing it....I cut that headstock in 1988 when I first got it.  hmmmmm, I wonder if I missed out on a patenting opertunity? :laughing7:  peace, John

    Jazz....P/MM Fretless

The routes were done by Warmoth.....The MM is in the "sweet" spot and the P-Bass is moved 1 coil forward (so the bottom coil is where the top coil should be on a normal P-Bass and the top coil is in front of that.)  Makes for a very smooth deep P-bass sound.  I would dig a MM in the P-bass...

It's a Hot for Jazz STK-J2  and the MM is Alnico mag......I am going to switch the neck pup for a Dimarzio Model J...I like the adjustable poles on that pup better. also I think it is more "growly" (I love using that word) and last but not least...what is this Warhead headstock you are talking...

    Jazz....P/MM Fretless

O.K.  I finished this one about 6 months ago......It only recently got the fretless neck.....somrtimes it takes a while for the right pieces to come together...but this body was meant to have fretless......Black Korina/ Tobacco Burst.  Maple/Ebony neck....John East pre and Nordstrand pup's.  It...

    My J bass

    recent addition P/J

Thanks........I am moving away from the Q-P's, because I am really into more of a vintage/mid sound these days. The Q's are very big on lows and highs. I have had them for years and always loved them, but, like I mentioned, they are not for me know. :icon_scratch: The controls are VVT....simple...

    recent addition P/J

This is one I finished about a month ago.....swamp ash, clear red....maple/rosewood neck and seymore duncan pup's. It is a heavy one.....10lbs.  not what i was going after.....too much for these old shoulders... :-\ anyway.... it's good for recording.

    G4..just completed.

Well, I have had the neck since 1988 (Warmoth) and the parts and pup's for quite a few years too. All I spent was $180 and 6 coats of tung oil. I figure if you had to buy everything.....maybe $500.00--- Warmoth body and neck, using el cheapo hardware and pup's...just a guess. John

She plays great....midrange growl emphasis.....straight up MM, but when i bring up the neck....it really tames the mids....brings in the lows that i like.  Very simple controls. VVT...both wired series........it will fill the niche I was looking for.  John

I just finished this and got done playing..........very Midrangy/Growly. I like it...very different from my Jazz and P-Bass. 8.6 lbs...I was hoping for lighter...but I'll take under 9lbs anyday.  The neck is Ebony/Birdseye...I had it made back in '88 by Warmoth. It's been floating around...

Howdy all......just finished this. :icon_biggrin: It came in just under 8.6lbs. maybe with hipshot ultra light tuners and bridge i can shave off a few more oz. Peace, John
