First build, Poplar strat, Bubinga neck

It's a DIY job, so you can still see some brush strokes (yeah, I brushed it on, tried rubbing it with cotton cloth but that would have taken 50 coats) here and there on the edges, but only if you watch it from close up. The way I move about on stage ain't nobody gonna see anything. Finish...

    Show us your pics!

At a gig on my birthday last year : Had loads of family members looking on incredulously, while trying to stuff paper napkins etc into their ears.  :icon_biggrin:

First build, Poplar strat, Bubinga neck

Yeah, it's my first one. I was amazed at how easy it was to put the finish one and assemble it.  Well, I do have you guys and all the info on this forum to thank for that. I would've screwed up more than a few things if I hadn't had the right info. :icon_biggrin: Love the reverse headstock, not...

    Poplar Strat, first build.

Finished! Stormed out from work one afternoon 2 weeks ago, and put the whole thing together. Been off on holiday for the last 2 weeks, so couldn't post any pictures. Pics now in the "finished" section : http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=12242.0

    New Arrival!

I managed to put the whole thing together yesterday afternoon. As you say, 2 coats of wax is plenty, and positioning the top strap pin slightly closer to the neck was good advice. That neck is huge and quite heavy, but the whole thing balances pretty evenly (it might slide a bit with a slick...

    New Arrival!

Thank you! Good tip! The Sperzel tuners on there are quite heavy, so that would make it worse. Body's got 2 coats of wax now, and it really looks cool, sort of a "dragged" Mary Kaye look. I think I could slap the whole thing together tonight. I hope.  :blob7:

    Poplar Strat, first build.

This is addictive! I just snuck back home at lunch to do a little sanding, and couldn't help but put on the first wax coat and buff it. I'm using beeswax. It looks great. Got back to work an hour late...  :icon_biggrin:

    New Arrival!

LOL!  :toothy12: Further update here : http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=11950.0 I've oiled the neck lightly, and man does that bubinga look cool.  :headbang1:

    Poplar Strat, first build.

As promised on the Just out of the box section, some build updates : The body after one coat of Ikea furniture finish (seriously), drying in my kitchen. The grain came up a bit, but it's been sanded and recoated since, and now it looks cool, a bit like a cross between a Fender Blonde and...

    New Arrival!

My stuff finally got here! Had some trouble with customs, but it's being sorted. They're idiots, the guys from Warmoth packed well and clearly indicated value on the packages, and still they manage to mess it up. "There's no paperwork with 'em" is what they said. It was right there on the box. ...
