I'm thinking of using z-poxy on zebrawood. Not sure if it will darken it too much and lose its impact.

So, does anyone have an example of zebrawood with z-poxy or have some experience with this combination.

Thanks.

Z poxy will change the color a bit.  It has a bit of an amber hue.  I used it on some spalt and really made it pop.  Can you post a photo of what you are working with?

I did a zebra with only satin poly.  Turned out great

Yea I did see that, just not sure what it would do to zebra wood. I assume its a subtle tint rather than a deep colour?

This is what I'll be putting it on...

Thanks

amazing top.  It is not a deep color.  HEre is how it changed by flame/spalted maple.

Yea that looks great, I think I'm sold. I'm looking at getting it from here.

I've seen they have ones that cure in 5 minutes and 30 minutes. I'd assume its best to get the 30 as you have more working time? Or is it better if it dries quicker?

Thanks,

Adam

thats the stuff...FINISHING RESIN.  I got the 30 minute.  5 is too fast especially when working the sides.

Question about Z-Poxy, this may be a silly question, but should I spray a coat of sanding sealer before my burst, or is the z-poxy my sanding sealer?

Thanks

Z-poxy is generally used as a grain filler/sealer (this thread is an interesting read: http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=11293.0 ) so I guess you do not need to spray a sealer on top of it.

That's great thanks for that.

I know you may be getting sick of me but need a bit of help...

I applied the z-poxy and I think I was a little thin on an area, I sanded it back and some parts have gone through to the wood.

Should I sand it back to wood and start again, or should I proceed with the next coat of z poxy?
