Well was playing the strat the other night, and the Mrs to be once again suggested she wasn't a fan of the surf green body. It is a MIM body so unless I want to buy a new bridge, I need to stick with another MIM body. Found a black one on the bay for much less than it would cost to have the surf green one stripped and redone.

What say you, keep the surf green?
Or
Please the Mrs to be and recreate the DG looking strat I had years ago?

I figure I could sell the surf green body for what the black would cost, so it's just the cost of a new pickguard.

I think you are on the wrong path too.

But you can suggest to build another guitar in the color she prefers.

Well I had already thought of going black with it. And monies aren't there for another build (I have 2 others in progress as well as 2 others needing refrets).

That being said, you should know when to apply it and when not to. If the surf green is "it" to you, she should understand. If it's not a huge deal then change it.

There are some colors that I don't want to stare at day after day. If having a different color means you can leave it lying around so you can pick it up any time then it would make sense to let it go for another color.

There will come a day when there is a dress (pants, shirt, etc...) that you don't like looking at and you may need to cite a little precedence.

Green is a funny color. It can bring to mind pastoral scenes, candies, lush forests, delicious vegetables, mucus, road kill guts, algae, fly-blown dogshit... it's pretty versatile. But, personally, if I had a surf green Strat, I'd throw it in the fireplace as quickly as possible so as to end the non-stop projectile vomiting it induced. So, I can understand her revulsion.

But, it's your guitar. If you like that shade, then whaddaya supposed to do? If she wants you to have a black body and you're not opposed to the idea, let her buy it for you and cheerfully change it out. Otherwise, I'd just smile and tell her stfu  :laughing7:

Go surf, or go black. Doesn't matter. If the wifey, or future wifey, or concubine, happens to prefer one color, and it's not important to you... By all means, please them! I have a much easier time keeping mother happy when I spend silly amounts of money on gear she deems "pretty".

Leaving aside the question of someone else picking your guitar color...(this isn't a normal joint decision like say where your house will be located). A guitar is something that belongs to one person and one person plays it. Like your toothbrush.)

Don't mind the color of the strat, but I don't love it anymore like I used to. And you have to be careful what you wear when playing it as it could clash LOL.

Wasn't an issue when I was playing surf music. Looks odd on stage now playing Deep Purple LOL.

And no, the future Mrs isn't by anyways mandating a change. She merely brought up it wasn't her favorite, which echoed a thought I had a while ago to do a color change on it.

I agree with the "Mrs to be", but it's your guitar, so you should have the color that you like.
