The EU's trademarks authority has permitted a German firm to brew beer and produce clothing under the name "fudging Hell". It may be an expletive in English, but in German it could refer to a light ale -- Hell -- from the Austrian town of fudging. Whether it will be brewed there is another question.

(keep in mind the bad-word filter of this board, check the article for the real town name ;-)

Hilarious!  :occasion14:

Awesome name.

Won't ever beat this though.

I keep trying to enjoy beer, really I do. Kansas City has Boulevard beer so ingrained in the culture that you're kind of a jerk if you don't drink it. I just can't get into something bubbly without caffeine in it.

I have been known to carry a half pint of peppermint schnapps in my coat pocket, though.

I don't care for beer either.
That barley/whatever flavor is just plain out nasty to me. A sip or two is good, but gulping down beer makes me want to vomit. :dontknow:

If it tastes like poop, why keep forcing it down my throat in hopes that I'll eventually love it?

That's what... uh... no, let's not do that.

I like beer, but I'm a bit picky. As usual, I prefer the less sweet ones. Danish beer often taste sugared - too much alcohol - but Czech beer like Urquell is great. Still not on great terms with the Kilkenny/Guiness stuff. Oh well, live and learn :)

But the beer in the OP sounds very interesting...!

I liked Guinness when I lived in Ireland (for some reason it only tastes good in Ireland)
but I had to stop drinking it, because after a pint or 5, i felt I like I drank 5 loafs of bread!

Smithwicks was the perfect compromise for me!

I'm a big fan of most beer styles, but dry stouts are my favorite because they are not bubbly.  Guinness is good, but Beamish is my favorite.  Though I also enjoy cream ales quite a bit.  Anderson Valley Summer Solstice is awesome.

Here's what I will say about beer though:  it's an acquired taste, meaning you have to work at it.  And remember, there are about 500 different types of beer, so you have a lot to choose from.  My husband hates pretty much everything except for dark ales and dry stouts.  I like a lot of different types, but I can't stand some of the Belgian Styles (Fat Tire is a good example) because of this weird aftertaste that grosses me out.

And also, if your only experience with beer is drinking Bud, Coors, MGD, Pabst, Amstel, or any of those other macro brews, and that has led you to dislike beer, then you haven't actually ever had a real beer and you're basing your judgement on the worst that the industry has to offer.  That's like saying cheese is gross after only ever trying the nacho cheese they sell at movie theaters.  And keep in mind that beer from the tap is better than beer from a bottle.

What Hannaugh said. Microbrewed is the way to go. Part of the reason I love living in Québec is our thriving microbrewery culture. (Get it? Culture...yeast...brewing...? That's kinda like a pun. Too much caffeine this morning.)

Speaking of which...

Knucklehead: you need to come to Québec and drink a Péché Mortel (lit. Deadly Sin); it's a dark stout infused with strong coffee. Magical stuff.

I couldn't have said it better myself  :icon_thumright:
Australia & New Zealand have an increasing number of miro breweries making "real ale" as opposed to the chemical beers produced by the large corporates.  They have a range of styles to suit any taste from dark malty beers through to the lighter hoppier beers.  Here's a sample tray from the Bootleg Brewery in West Australia showing the range they make

Wow, that's a sig. worthy quote if I ever saw one. :blob7:

No more 3AM posting for me. I forget to proof read.

I'm not really a beer drinker, more of a pot smoker.

That being said I love a good Romulan or a Sour Diesel or a Super Silver Haze

Hate schwag.  Seeds= a waste of money

My wife recently turned me onto Atwater Block Brewery's Vanilla Java Porter.  Really awesome beer.  Like coffee and beer all in one!!!  Good stuff!

But honestly I'd still rather smoke reefer!!

I could probably do coffeebeer. Only problem is, that I'd probably do it too well.

I've had moments where I'm drinking Guinness and suddenly I think I'm drinking iced black espresso and vice versa.

Way beer snob here... Where I live now, we don't get the nice collection we had in the Pacific Northwest, but I can occasionally find something of worth at various local stores (going out for a beer is a whole nother story - we got Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite, Blue Moon, and Yuengling - BLEH).

That all being said, this is my favorite - Maritime Pacific Jolly Roger. Mmm, Mmm, Good...
