I thought it was supposed to be a strat with chunks damaged by forklift. Too bad they don't make a Musiclander with the missing chunks still intact.

The benefits of being UW's resident vintage purist is that I know this stuff. :icon_biggrin:

The musiclander/swinger/arrow was a cheap parts guitar put out by fender right around the time of  the CBS takeover. It was put together using various reshaped bodies, mostly leftover bodies from the hideous and unpopular bass V. At the time,  Fender had a lot of parts leftover from musicmasters, so the swinger was essentially a more modern looking musicmaster, with one pickup, a three saddle bridge, and a reshaped "arrow" headstock. It was sold on the cheap by door to door salesmen.

Quite sexy, I think.

BTW, Pete - I can't wait to see this musiclander of yours, it should be good.

My guitar instructor has four of these (swingers).

He told me they just keep "coming to him". The first lesson I went in for he had a 68 pink paiskley telecaster just leaning against a brick wall, no stand or anything. Dude has a ridiculous collection.

On a side note, he told me the "swinger" decal was placed on top of the nitro and scratched right off which is why most just say "Fender" on the headstock.

here he is with his LPB, he's also got candy apple red, olympic white and daphne blue ones.

(the boogies in the pic are so old the labels on the rear of the amp are done with an old 3m tape impression labeler)

I am extremely jealous of this man. A vintage swinger is one of my dream guitars.

They never had "swinger" decals to begin with, they were just stickers. They literally peeled off.

I believe your guitar instructor goes as FenderBob on a couple forums.
