Given the intricate set-up process of a Floyd I can see why a lot of people don't care for them, but mine have always been trouble-free.

I won't go as far as to say that the trem is as stable as the fixed bridges, but there is an enormous difference between the genuine and the knock off. I wasn't trying to say that Floyds suck (clearly they do not) but the one on this guitar does. All the profesional set up knowledge in the world cannot save a $30 Chinese trem.
Of course, all guitar bridges are welcome in my diverse and welcoming collectionicon_jokercolor
, but the cheap ones suck. You are better off tying your strings off on your strap button than hoping for crappy hardware to hold. :icon_biggrin:

Why is the "restock" version $20 more expensive?

I have nothing against Floyds (I have 3 of them), but they just don't belong on Les Pauls.

That's pretty cool, I did manage to pass on my love of guitars and playing to my youngest brother. And tried to do the same with my wife's kids(I have none of my own) but they just didn't have it in their blood.reluctant-builder said:Altar said:The normal is on sale right now. It won't be, soon.
I bought two yesterday, both in TV Yellow.
One for my niece, who wants to learn how to play (and who wanted a yellow guitar, just like me; great taste runs in the family, it seems :icon_biggrin: ), and one for me, because I've wanted a guitar I can play with the strings upside down. The double cutaway will be handy for me, as a lefty.

What's even better is that what my niece really wants is a drum set! But her mom says: "No."
(Don't worry; I'll get her one anyway) :icon_biggrin:
My sister consented to the guitar because she thinks it'll be "quieter" ... heh.

Good for you. Are you modding it at all?reluctant-builder said:Altar said:The normal is on sale right now. It won't be, soon.

Would you be willing to take yours apart and tell me if it's a standard heel?reluctant-builder said:Altar said:Good for you. Are you modding it at all?
I'm going to mod mine. I figure I'll let my niece get acquainted with the thing before I go to town on her guitar but, if she -- at some point down the line -- decides she wants a little more versatility from it, I'd take on that project.
For the one I'm keeping, I'm going to rout the body for a neck humbucker, though I'll probably put a bucker-sized P-90 there and -- as this is most likely happen -- replace the bridge pickup with a (not stacked) P-180-style humbucker. I'll drill a hole for the toggle, the channel for the neck pup wire, and put in a push-pull pot to split the bridge coil.
Super Turbo Deluxe Custom said:Maybe it'll be different on this because it's a bolt on neck, but do you remember the SG X series from the 90s? They were a single pickup'd SG, some had a single coil in the neck position. Many had the necks break off because the owners routed a neck humbucker, greatly reducing the amount of already lacking body wood thickness.
