Wire lengths on EMG "BQC Control" preamp?

I want to initially wire up my new five-string bass passively, but keep open the option of re-wiring it with an EMG BQC Control active preamp. It's the one with a concentric bass/treble & concentric mid/mid-sweep control knobs. I'm trying to find out how long the wires are between the control knobs, as supplied by EMG, so I don't have to do any extensive re-drilling or solder a jillion jumper wires if I do need to go active. EMG just doesn't say how long the wires are in their PDF info, though I'll get a hold of them eventually.

I just need to know if  2" knob-to-knob spacing is adequate - those wires look short....

hey Stubsie,

I can't speak from direct experience, since I don't usually work with EMG products. This said, I can make a couple deductions from the referenced image

* a typical lower stacked knob has a diameter between 11/16" and 3/4"
* it appears that there is a little more than three knob diameters of wire between the pc board and the concentric pot

3 * 11/16" = 2.0625"

Based on this, I'd say that a 2" center spacing might be pushing it unless you also have room to rotate the pc board within the control cavity. if you can rotate the pc board, a 2" pot spacing 'should' be a possibility.

Still, it's best to get a real answer from EMG

all the best,

The wires look to me like they are clipped by the image edge.  Some of them look like they are faded-out before they reach the image edge.
I would be surprised if EMG didn't supply extra-long wires with the preamp.  But even if they didn't it looks like it would be easy to replace the factory wires with some of your own choosing if the factory wires won't reach.
