Hello, I want to know if Hipshot tuners will fit in a neck made with Gotoh/Grover holes?

I first ordered my neck with the Gotoh/Grover holes, but I recently discovered the open back Hipshot griplocks... and they look awesome, so much that I want them.
But im not sure they will fit, someone told me they will, still want to make sure.
Emailed hipshot and they wont answer, thanks.

Having a look here at the sizes at the link below. Yes they will fit.

I use Schaller holes which fit well with the Griploks, however the diameter of the grover hole at the front of the headstock is the same. The rear diameter is a little larger on the Grovers but overall it will fit albeit a little loser. If you use the UMP plate also that should help stop any movement.

The schaller holes are the closest fit if ordering a neck from scratch.

It seems a few of you are going for Griploks now, I think Hipshot needs to send me a free set :-)

Thanks!

My main concern was that the gotoh/grover hole has two diameters, where the others are only one diameter.
I would be using the UMP too, so it should be good.

Other super nice thing about the Hipshots is that you can change the tuner buttons...  I will be gettting SK1 ones.

OK, the SK1 buttons are a little different, what kind of headstock are you using ?

Yes both the Grover and Schaller have two diameters. They are the same at the front of the headstock but the Grover is bigger at the back.

You'll see how they fit when you get them, the shafts are broader toward the back.

Yes the parts screw together. There is a reach nut and washer which is best fitted with a socket. Also they have alignment screws, but if you use a UMP they aren't needed.

Oh.. I understood wrong then, i think lol.
I thought you asked about the headstock because maybe the buttons would not fit... thats why I asked if the buttons are not just screw in :P.

I guess these buttons might look weird in a strat headstock, but the body already is very far apart from a strat(its a RR)... Maybe ill get a proper  neck with a pointy headstock in the future with a more correct holes :P

You're in luck!  Here are a few recent posts about hipshot tuners with ump. Hipshot has tuners that fit 10mm, 8.5mm which fit sperzils and schallers.  You need to know you're hole widths.  I agree with stratman, it would be loose, but when brought to tension with strings, would work.  I wouldn't bother emailing hipshot.  Just call them and you'll get your question answered immediately by the person who makes the tuners.  Pretty cool.

Check out stratman's post, it's what sold me on the hipshots.
