Someone mentioned this in another thread

Does anyone know what this is or is it top secret ??  :icon_scratch:  :laughing7:

Yeah, can anyone give details? I have a Wilk VS100 on my VIP, and I have also heard this mentioned in a recent thread. Thanks :headbang1:

Are we talking about the wobbly trem arm? I have seen people replace this with one from a Floyd Rose

Come on guys, someone mentioned he had this in another thread so it must be something.

I'm gonna start digging to see if I can identify our close mouthed culprit  :icon_scratch:

is it the mod to fix the wobble?
this is one that fellow forum member TAEZ555 posted... I did something similar myself

So let me see if i get that video correctly ?
He went through all that crap to find and fit a Floyd arm only to realise that all he had to do was tighten the nut in the 1st place ?
What a plonker.  :icon_jokercolor:

I'll be disappointed if that's it.  :icon_scratch:

That's all it takes. :-)

The fact that there were threads on the Warmoth forum and others about it for years and absolutely no one could figure it out is the crazy part.  It's not really just "tightening" the nut.  For some reason Wilkinson makes it so you have to twist the Sh*T out of it.  It doesn't move on it's own very easily, and is absolutely impossible to move when it's installed.  You have to take the whole trem out and almost deform the nut to get it to move.

Once I had it off I simply tested it with a spare floyd arm I had to see if it worked.

Thought I'd make a video showing how I did it as well as some other options for those interested.    Wasn't crazy about the floyd because it sat to high.

Oh yeah... in the 1 1/2 years since I made the video.  No wobble what so ever.

Hope that helps, plonker. ;-)

Thank you for the reply you plonker  :icon_biggrin:  :icon_biggrin:

Just had a peek at your web site and your Strat is stunning.

I'd honestly recommend getting the Wilky Brass block that i've mentioned in my other threads, I'm totally in love with the improved tone it gives.

Changing it takes 10 mins and while you've got the block off.. you could swap out that nut you mention in your video, I might take a look at doing that before I fit my new Wilky to my Warmoth body that's due soon.

Where do you get the brass block?

I've thought about ugrading to the Wilkinson 401 a couple times, but was never sure how much better it is.

The 401 is nice but only because the block is better.

Get a brass one from Killerguitarcomponents.com and enjoy.

here's a pic of my new one with the old block along side for comparison
