I have a solid mahogany deluxe tele in route, never experienced wide range, if I go humbucker it will be either seth lover or pearly gates, how would i compare wr to the sl or pg?
WRHB as a vintage repro is a cool sound the DCR measures hotter than vintage PAF but the different construction of them makes them sound brighter than a PAF of lesser DCR. They are an interesting sound if you dont have it in your collection they are worth trying IMO.
WRHBs are their own thing. I love them, but they are quite distinct from PAF tones, as stated above. I captured clips of the Revel WRHBs in my Thinline Tele, they may give you an idea of what they are about:
The driving reason for this is PAF HB style pup uses a bar magnet under the poles and slugs. A WRHB the poles are the actual magnets. Totally different construction. We have even brought the different magnet alloys used then vs largely now.
