Why are guitar parts so expensive? Carved tele, NMB.

I know, I know - no pics = not real.
I'll post live-action picks once I have the neck.

Carved top thinline from the showcase.
Maple on ash, Black front and back with NMB, hollow with 2 f holes, tele style pickup routs, LP style toggle.

The maple is plain, but I like it. I was hoping the recurve would be a little more pronounced on the top, PRS style, but it's not done with a cove bit, it's just kind've angled off... Got it for 400$, so can't complain.

Plan: for now, putting a wenge/wenge LP neck on it (a neck that I will be re-using for another project later on, when money grows on trees), throwing in some quarterpounders N&B.
Later on: re-rout the neck pickup for a HB, get a new neck, thinking wenge/ziricote with binding and blocks, a tele heel (warmoth charges outrageously for this!), and the ghost piezzo system bla bla bla - that'll run me up ANOTHER grand for this guitar. Crazyness.

Oh yeah - and maybe some day I'll finish that one piece mahogany bass I've been "working on" for the last TWELVE YEARS for which I have a great padouk/pau ferro neck in a closet DOING NOTHING. Haussels and a Q-tuner for that one. Body only needs roundover routing, pickups and cavity routing! Can't believe it.  :help: I'm starting a support group: WA (warmoth anonymous), any takers?

Pics coming with the neck. Or before if I get antsy waiting for the neck.

WOW fell in love with this one

another project idea on my list :icon_biggrin:

Pics make it real.
Not bad - got impatient after waiting one day for my neck.
Check the "character", and the wish-they-hadn't on the f-hole point.
Will start a thread for my nemesis: the never-ending bass.

Was priced like a factory second, but wasn't put down as one - that little nip off the bottom point of the f-hole...

Anyways, wasn't worth complaining to warmoth about, and not going to talk about it any more.

Let you know when I get the neck. Nervous to see how big this "gap" is between the strat heel and the pocket.

Wicked looking Tele, I dont really like the F-hole thing, but this looks really sharp, cant wait to see the end results....I didnt follow on the strat heel pocket thing, I hope your putting a tele neck on here and not trying to make a strat neck work, be a shame to see this body compromised...Its your guitar you get to do what you want with it, but I think it would be one bad ass telecaster.

90$ to make a non-tele neck have a tele heel!
It's a temporary thing, but I am putting an LP neck on  it (with a strat style heel) until I can save up to buy the right body for the lp neck, and the right neck for the tele body. I'm told the fingerboard covers it up ok. My goal is to make a PRS style guitar - warmoth headstock, humbucker in neck position...

did you call / email to make sure they'll do the tele heel on a warmoth headstock? just curious because i called and asked a while ago and was told they couldn't do that. i was a little disappointed, but put the money towards something else (whole new guitar!). i know different people have called and gotten different information depending on who they talked to. i'm just a little curious now.

can't wait to see this one come together! i love the warmoth headstock on my strat, and think it'll look great on this tele. the only tele i've seen one on was a very classic and traditional telecaster body, and it just didn't look right. i think the dual f-holes, carved top, and great binding will be enough to set this one away from the traditional look. bet the warmoth headstock will really shine on this body  :icon_thumright:

they should be able to do that, i mean what if you bought a tele from fender and wanted to change the neck?
they might not refund it or whatever but i got a tele neck and body with strat heel and pocket so i could use a strat neck while the tele neck was being built, i ordered them seperate to space out the payment. so why not a tele heel and other headstock? mention this when you call.

i know they can do strat headstocks with tele heels and tele heels with strat headstocks. i was told it was just for that particular headstock. i'll have to call back on monday and see what they say

Yep. Thar's tha rub.
Dan/Jay: I called and I was told 45$ for putting a tele heel on a paddle, and 45$ for cutting out the headstock. Even though in an e-mail I got from them it said "not too expensive..."

It's going to be a small disappointment for tfarney and Jay for now because it's an LP style neck going on it for now (temporarily, maybe a year or two). The LP neck is for a future guitar, and was 300$ less than the tele-heeled, warmoth headed, bound and blocked wenger that I'm going to get, some day (for like almost 700$). AND I'm paying in Canadian dollars, which now isn't doing so bad, but later who knows?

Thanks for the + feedback though, I'm excited for this one.

sounds like a problem with fixtureing or no program depending on their process, or they might have thought you meant the 6 inline thing on greggs 7/8th guitar. because i don't know why the 3x3 warmoth would be different from a LP, but who am i to question?

I really like that body, I remember seeing it in the show case. I hope mine ends up as good as that! My carved top tele will be here tomorrow and I can't wait!

Simple mind, simple pleasures.
Got my Grover open-backs from Stewmac today.
Very happy.
I'll stare at them as a proxy until my neck and pups arrive.

Neck marked shipped, in Vancouver since the 26th. Only 4300km to go.
I'm all exskited.

:icon_thumright: me too. there's a serious shortage of carved top teles around here! especially considering how badass they are!

At first didn't love the carved top teles - man they are growing on me that thing looks sweet. Can't wait to see it come together.  :headbang:

Same for me man.

ONE day, I'll have a carved top Tele with 2 P90s :guitaristgif:

these things are way better than the lp and vip in my opinion. if i ever do a real classy guitar it will be a carved top tele, im diggin the f-hole too. maybe the only body/paint combo i really like them on. but it would be as good with out them IMO.
