White Stratocaster build

Got the first part of my build in my hands the other day - gotta start somewhere!

It was surprisingly difficult to find a white or natural white strap that wouldn’t have black tips that would stick out like a sore thumb. This one is pretty!

Pickups should arrive in the mail soon too, and hopefully, the body and neck in a few weeks. So excited, can’t wait! :toothy10:

Of course, some of us consider a pickguard screw to be a valid start. :laughing11: :icon_thumright:

Pickups! Strings! Stand!

The build is getting closer and closer to completion. Still need to get a few caps and resistors for a nice balanced treble bleed. The pots and a jack are coming from W along with a custom pickguard.

Oh, and of course, I still need to wait for the actual body and neck  :toothy10:

IT IS GORGEOUS

Just look at this thing. The workmanship and attention to detail is stellar. The fret ends are better out of the box than what I've seen on some guitars in the local stores! (I'm surprised, because I thought W just installs the frets and "finishing touches" are left for the builder.) Every nook and cranny is finished. Might not even add the plastic trem cover on the back?

Absolutely fantastic work from everyone at Warmoth. I am so happy with this.

Can't wait to get this assembled. Not sure if I dare to do it myself or to take it to a proper luthier... On a quick test, the neck pocket is pretty tight and a tuner required quite a bit of force to plop in place - and with just fingers, I didn't get the top washer in / flush. Not sure where the line goes between snug as it should be and minor sandpaper work required - the last thing I'd want to happen is to accidentally split this beauty.

Just look at it. Wow!

(ps. sorry, just quick phone snaps, these don't do proper justice to the guitar. I'll take better photos with an actual camera and lighting setup later when i get this assembled!)

Congratulations! Looks really good. Yes, Warmoth parts are stellar right out of the box. Unlike many sources, that's the standard with their parts.

The image handling capabilities of this forum software sometimes leave something to be desired. For instance, attachments don't show up during editing, so you don't know if you're successful or if your layout makes sense. Review the message once complete (posted) to see what effect you've had. Alternatively, you could use a hosting service and link in images using "IMG" tag pairs. Photobucket is a non-starter for many, but Imgur seems to work well, or you could lease some commercial server space or run your own server.

Also, when uploading the pics have to be below certain size.  I always have to reduce mine in paint by 75%.  It's not that hard.  Then when adding click on more attachments.  Do that there should be no probs.

Methinks it looks like a weasel guitar!

Put the neck in place, snug fit. The teeny-tiny gap (a piece of paper) from the top corner was closed down when I tightened the screws. This looks and feels so amazing!

One funny little problem I noticed: if the neck is in place and the pickups are installed on the pickguard, I can't fit it in due to the fretboard overhang. How do other people deal with this with the conversion necks? Take off the neck when tinkering with the electronics?

When possible I get necks with out the overhang.  Otherwise I gotta take the neck off . Might be a trick I don’t know about.

Unfortunately.... You could try just loosening things up to get enough clearance, but that ends up being more of a hassle than it’s worth. I just bite the bullet and pull the neck.

Occasional neck removal is a good argument for threaded inserts and machine screws for attachment. Makes short work of it, without deteriorating the screw holes.
